i ended up using Galeclaw and Lyleen as my favorite, Galeclaw at 4 stars glides a good distance even in dungeons and Lyleen has high handicraft and can make medicine so i gave Lyleen 4 worker passives that i only use for healing and not fighting
outside of those two, for combat i like Katress and Lunaris, both are pretty mid but i still like using them
i tried using lovander for healing but i cant seem to get a good one but seeing i have a pal that boosts grass pals it was easy to swich but there really good to have at your base
Once I have fenglope, galeclaw and flying mount. Roaming around iceland (north west area) looking for chest and dungeon. Using fenglope to skip dungeon straight to boss area and using the wall glitch to go to the last chest. I always do this in my 4 playthrough.
And fenglope is the best land mount in this game. especially if you can get one with swift. The double jump even rival Paladius triple jump. and you can start using it mid game at level 26.
So, the permanent lineup is:
Cattiva
Grintale
Mau
Mau Cryst
Katress
killamari for gliding and fighting,
gorilla monkey guy whats his name, for combat
then i usually leave the other open soi can try new guys as i get them :D
For general use, Lovander is my pick, for the lifesteal.
The others are just there so my party doesn't fill up with the Pals I'm catching.
The only downside to Quivern is that it can't float over water, it swims like you do and loses stamina still.
Quivern 4 Ever!
Ragnahawk (attacker + flyer)
Reptyro (wall + miner)
Lunaris (support)
Jormuntide + Jormuntide Ignis (cool factor)
- Jormuntide: Loads of HP and really packs a punch, focused breeding on raw dmg (Traits: Musclehead, Ferocious, Lucky, Lord of the Sea)
- Fenglope: Incredibly fast and with the double jump you traverse most terrain more quickly than with a flyer (Traits: Swift, Runner, Ferocious, Musclehead)
- Suzaku: currently breeding for it to swap out my Vanwyrm (Traits almost done: Swift, Runner, Musclehead, Burly Body)
- Digtoise: especially since the last patch the mining capabilities are off the charts, goes through iron deposits like through butter and can hold its own in a fight as well (Traits: Burly Body, Ferocious, Artisan, Lucky)
Last spot I am still debating. I have a really great Beakon (Swift, Runner, Musclehead, Lucky) but for a flyer I really want to have Suzaku. Beakon packs a hefty punch damage-wise, but he feels more like a glass cannon as he goes down pretty quickly.
Not sure which other Pal I want to use for my last team spot, though. There are so many awesome ones.
Nitewing->Beakon->Gobfin
Gobfin
Gobfin
Gobfin->Jetragon
Nothing interesting, just meta.
One flying mount (Ragnahawk for now), four angry little buffers (Gobfin Ignises).
All five have Vanguard and Stronghold Strategist for +50% to my ATK/DEF total. Three of the angry munchkins still need the final condensing level, but the four of them add a bit more to player attack. All the gobfins also have Motivational Leader buffing player work speed, and Musclehead making them more glass cannons; while the Ragnahawk's other traits are Burly and... Ferocious, maybe? So, a lot of player buffing + one combat mount.
I've only started to capture the legendaries (got three Frostallions, one each Necromus and Paladius; haven't fought Jetdragon yet) and haven't begun any breeding projects with them, but after my gobfin-breeding-spam is complete I'll probably start with the Frostallions as an alternative to my Ragnahawk.
I spent a fair bit of time riding a Jormuntide Ignis, but it's pretty awkward when fighting un-mounted due to its huge bulk and as a non-flying mount it's less versatile for travel. But seeing a Jormuntide Ignis light up some mediocre enemy for 8000+ damage with a single Fireball is amusing, though.
