Is it normal for performance to go down after making a few bases?
I'm hosting the world to play with my friend and we're Lv 42 with two bases filled with 15 Pals.

At first the game always ran at 120fps, early game when were low level
However, now it runs 65-75 fps.
Idk if this is normal or not, if so I can ignore it and a heads up I have VBS active but I doubt its due to it.

Specs
I9 12900Kf , RTX 4090 , 32GB , M.2 SSD , W11
Playing on 4K without DLSS

Very generally, yes your performance would decrease the more you build, especially depending on what sort of base you made. If it is a mining base for instance, all those drops will slow you down until gathered. I don't know if all of this would drop your frames by half per say, and this leads into my own personal observations of this latest update, but I have noticed my performance slows in general, and especially the longer I play.

Now this leads into anecdotal things I've read here, but I've seen it said that there is a memory leak, and more recently with this update, complaints of performance and threads relating to that being deleted, but take all that with a grain of salt.

Hopefully a more tech savvy person can provide more in-depth answers and specifics, and of course, don't hesitate to use the bug reporter in-game, as it might be game side and such info could help.

Thanks for the reply, I do expect some level of performance change as the world gets more Pals working in it but not to this level. It's likely due to me being the host that I suffer some of this performance issues.

Memory leak, yes this game does have a bit of that but it shouldn't be an issue until I run low on it.

There is something about having Pals working at base while doing fast travel or dungeon runs that I think causes memory leaks. On my rig it leads to graphics artifacts cause I’m guessing I got 24g vram, instead of a crash on like a steam deck for example.

If I put my base Pals in the box and shut down my base, I have less problems with these graphical artifacts, which I’m guessing is where the memory leak is coming from,

Also, it seems to help if I wait like 20 seconds after exiting a dungeon or fast traveling, I’m less likely to run into it,

If I just sit in my base and don’t move, I can run the game for hours with no problems,

Just sharing my experience, hope devs can fix soon

Specs: 12900k(all limits enforced), 32g 4800 ram )xmp off for ea games), evga 3090ti ftw3 ultra driver controlled no manual oc, windows updated on nvidia driver 551.52.

I will keep this in mind, could be worth reducing some of the pals if this becomes worse.
As for VRAM, it once leaked alongside normal RAM till windows explorer task has crashed and I had to force shut down by power button lol but it was a 6+ hour session without closing.

I also feel like the more u play you get more fps drops kinda annoying to restart and hope always to get it to better work also cant have big bases too kinda annoying because of the fps hit its the game 100% because it always depends on where you are how long u played base size and stuff at least thats what i noticed i guess

Had a similar experience. My first play thru I went ham on big bases and three bases all with pals working while I explored,

After same experience as you. On my new play thru, I got one base, just one building. And put all my pals in box when yondering. Seems to help, idk

So far on the runs I'm doing I only make two bases, one as my main base and one base in a specific location for ore + coal mining, and very often it gets somewhat framey since the Pals are mining all of the ores, coals and also cutting down the trees, but decide not to gather it despite the fact a majority of the Pals can gather but decide to do anything but gather in masses so I have to make occasional visits to the base to gather the drops myself.

Would also make a third base in my worlds but haven't decided what I want to use it for yet, but I should test how my performance is with a third base, which i'd likely use as another resource gathering base unless my pc doesn't like having up to 40 pals split between two bases gathering hundreds of resources and leaving all the drops on the floor, while another 20 or so pals at a third base are doing other stuff.
