I have this issue in general. I'll tell something to cook food, and it will run off and start lighting torches, or just go idle. Electric ones are the worst as they'll insist on going and recharging my power until they drop, weakened, broken, and angry.

Sounds like you need more hot springs and better beds. It might also be tied to how hard you have them set to work with the monitoring stand.

You can also pick a pal up and throw them at a station to make them prioritize working on that station over everything else.

Vanwyrm cryst, being a ice/dark type, will cool at night AND during the day.

That's one of the tricks of the game is to find the right pals for the right jobs on base. Like foxcicle and Frostallion are dedicated to freezer. Even Chillet is pretty good about cooling. But you can do this for many more jobs. Also when you 'assign' pals to a job as long as you don't leave base they'll keep doing it as long as they're not hungry or stressed, but after they fix their issue they'll go back and do their job. There are ways around certain things too. For example isn't it annoying when Chikipi stops making eggs to harvest crops? Assign him to ranch and stay on base OR use one of your 3 bases for ranches only. 5 chikipis, 5 cows, 1-2 bees, 1-3 transporters then you have one base dedicated to making high speed cake ingredients without condensing and upgrading tier! Think like this for many of the game's issues and you won't need mods. I feel like it was intended and anything else would make it too easy. But that's only my opinion.

was that in a patch or something, i have tried vanwyrm cryst and it went to sleep at night.

Foxicle has the same problem. As soon as it gets hungry or bored it goes to the food or hot spring, then it doesn't go back to the cooler and just wanders.

You had a bug, it has always been a nocturnal pal. However, it will stop cooling if it detects a transport task close to where it is sitting.

get the ones with just cooling or they will be tards and do other things.

For the electric ones I suggest putting two of them in base. They fully charge, then eat. The other takes over, and they repeat between 99% - 100% charge.

i like the ice cat, the ice version of the gold farming cat (my head has trouble with names)
i don't recall how i got it, probably a cage
but it just sits there and cools, if you tell it to, otherwise it will try to farm

I think the cooling items were poorly implemented.

Perishables not getting cooling from Pals because they are asleep is a ridiculous concept and easily is enough to lose a decent amount of sometimes hard to obtain items.

They need to change all items that need a cooling pet to have a "Cooling Coil" that we charge up with them, just like the electric pets.

No amount of smart Pal placement will make a Pal who cools not need sleep, which by current nature haults cooling and sets perishables back to their equivalent timer without the boost but with all the decay.

If the fridge held a Cooling Charge this all would become fixed.

there's a cooler you can build, does that work?
also you can double up with a cooling pal and a cooler (which i think requires a cooling pal? idk)

The cooler is just a small version of the refrigerator, it still requires a cooling pal to make it function.

no, i mean there's a device that cools an area, there's also an area warmer, i think it requires electricity, but i just use the ice cat, damn, i can't remember the name is it 'mer'?, oh, is it 'mao'? i saw the name last night, lol
