cooler and food expiry system and transportation is broken
cooler doesn't extend the expiry period of food at all. it literally servers as a wooden box and food's expiry period can simply be reset by moving the food items back and forth from a box to your inventory and backwords.
i love the idea of pals transporting items from a site or generating building to a box but i dont like how i can't assign where the items should be stored or where does every item go or ATLEAST for the pals to track where the item is found most and deposit it there ( for example i have a box full of stone, so atleast the pals could deposit stone in the same box since the slots dont have a a limit. but instead i was surprised to find a chunk of stone in every single box. it's annoying to say the least)
was i the only one facing this issue?

i think the cooler needs an ice pal, I haven't bothered so I can't confirm. but you don't have to move your food to reset the timer, just hit sort. enjoy the bugs while they last. and the best solution I've found for keeping items out of boxes is to put them where pals can't reach. hopefully they add some kind of sorting mechanic in the future

they do need one, but the problem is that cooler only work while the ice pal is on it, meaning every night or everytime they go eat things will spoil. which is stupid, a fidge even without power can keep things cold for days as long as you don't open the door every 5sec.

that's a stupid way to put it. a temperature mechanism should be intended for the cooler or maybe coolers uses ice organs instead of actual pals running them would make more sense

wow that is pretty dumb. makes me feel way better about keeping skill fruit in mine.

Pals will prioritize putting food items in the food basket first and only if it is full, will they put them in a freezer/cooler.
They also eat from the food basket left to right.
Knowing this, you put whatever you want your pals to eat in the left most spot, potentially a buffer food like berries in the second and fill the rest with nonperishable food items like cotton candy or honey.
This way, all ranch and farm produce will go in the freezer/cooler.
Now you just need a vanwyrm cryst to assign it to the freezer/cooler.
Since it is also a dark type, it will never go to sleep and only shortly leaves to eat.

i get the food part. what about other resources tho? i do know they eat from left to right there's always a huge chunk of cooked berries that they never seem to finish. but it kinda dont make sense, why does the food i make have to go for them? what if im collecting stuff to cook something in particular? like cake or any other dish?

You will need Ice pal that can do night shift. Vanwyrm Cryst is the only one I think.

Correct. There might be more in the future, though.

Put all food items you don't want you pals to eat in a freezer/cooler.
They will never touch them.
Cake in particular is best stored in the breeding farm since it does not spoil at all in there.

I make Jam-Filled Bread which has a 1 hour expiration. You would only lose 168 per week per stack.

Stop splitting so many stacks. This isn't Ark. The mechanics are meant to be exploited. Thats why this game is so fun.

You can capture merchants and deploy them in base. This game is hilarious.

The fridge is a late-game item when you have Ice-only pals to baby sit it 24/7.

+1 for the OP.

Also, I don't think putting items "...where pals can't reach.." is even possible.
My pals put Wood and Stone in every container with a space available. whether the container is inside a structure with closed doors, or whether the container is on the roof of a structure with no path for a pal to get to it.

What the Devs need to do is change how the cooling mechanic works for the cooler and fridge so that it's more like how the power generator works, an ice pal is able to 'charge' the cooling bar of the cooler and when the pal is away the cooler uses the banked cooling until it runs out, the fridge should not only be chill able via pal but also run off of the power generator that will keep it's cooling bar topped off, so even if it loses power, it will have it's cooling bar to last a while.

The whole point should be that cooling should be easy to do, there is a buffer that's there to give the cooling pal enough time to eat, work elsewhere, take a break, etc. a cooling pal should not have to be on the box 24/7

Yes, they are also food and behave the same way.
just make sure your feed box is full with honey or cotton candy, so milk and eggs get put in the freezer/cooler.

Fridge does need cooler pal. Not everybody wants to micro moving food every ten minutes. Timer is for one unit of food spoilage, not stack. Most of the cycle is day, not night so still a significant increase to food life.

Pals will take to fridge if no feed bowls available. Dont put out a bunch of feed bowls and keep extra slots full with splitting stacks for a unit of honey or cotton candy in food bowl. Then they will take to fridge as a workaround.

Cotton candy is the better choice so dont accidentally use when cooking.
