You can build a base where they spawn and have all 15 +1 pals fight them.

You mean 20, you can raise that limit.
Go with an empty slot in your party on your first run.
Jetragon is the best pal to pick since Dragon > Dark
Capture Necromus and use it to fight Paladius since Dark > Normal
I'd also suggest finding a nearby forest of trees and hiding in there. it's weird but in that desert there's a bunch of them around and the only skill you'd need to dodge is their iceberg.
And with Frostallion, you can nab Jetragon pretty easily. So having both of these to help you makes the fight a lot easier. This is what I did when I had nothing else better to use at the time. You probably didn't seriously breed a shadowbeak too because you sort of need Necromus to do it optimally, so it's a catch-22. Better to just use the 2 legendaries to help you. Once you have all 4, you are free to start breeding for 50+ hours to make the ultimate monsters lol.
