Essentially what this means is you have for example are base elementals, then ascended elementals.
They could rarely occur naturally like shinies, and give access to more powerful abilities of that elemental type, in addition to some that would not be learnable otherwise.
For example, You have Fire, and the ascended tier would be Inferno.
Inferno elemental types would have double the power of the standard fire abilities of Fire Elemental Pals, and learn exclusive inferno moves the fire pals cannot.
This could be something achieved with breeding + pal condensing, or naturally occurring in the wild with high level shinnies.
As for what the type match-ups for the Machine and Psychic types could be: Machines would be weak against Electric or Water, while it could be strong against Psychics (due to Machines not being easily affected by mind reading/control powers; that, and the fact that fear of a robot revolution is a thing). But what type would Psychic be strong against and why? Maybe strong against Neutral due to Psychics being able to easily brainwash normal people?
Give me some Gundam pals, that'd be sick.
Honestly I kinda like this idea, A reward with good breeding and condensing higher level Pals to get something like that does sound good. Maybe they even gain new visial effects on them to show they ascended as well, like the Blazemut mane gaining a new burning effect or now it gains flaming wings on it's back.
On that note, I think 'Mutant' types could be a new one as well. Since the story has lore about Victor making Pals out of humans why not have more mutant Pals around and be weak to Normal type Pals and rather then be strong against any one Pal type Mutants strength whatever Elemental pair it has with it and have no Only Mutant type Pals. Always have it paired with another Elemental type.
Where does it say that Victor and the Research Unit experiment on humans? I thought their one moral code is to not do that to humans?
You can find Journals around the map near Victor's area one of them reads that the same time that he created Shadow Beak a lab assistant named Alex also went missing hinting that he was used for Shadow Beak.
Ah, I see. I'm guessing that just because Victor doesn't experiment on humans doesn't mean the rest of the Unit doesn't do so behind his back.
