1 to 1.5 years i bet. I expect this game to be coded like spaghetti and will require to be built from the ground up again to make the improvements they require. I would not be surprised if a lot of the people they are hiring will be working on implementing better core mechanics and physics, ect in Palworld 2.

Of course if the code allows it for what they have built maybe they can redo a lot of this game. From wha ti hear on this sub and other posts though this one is a test bed for the next game. Still not bad though.

Look at their other games and you will see what i mean.
