Avast reported this as a virus for no reson?

played 23 hrs with no problem now suddenly avast wont allow me to start it?
also fought boss and fell thru world and alt f4 probally thats the reson?

Avast is known to be highly aggressive towards Steam and often to standalone videogames. It is recommended that it not be used on a gaming rig, or at the very minimum, install it on a secondary drive with autoscan disabled and exclusions set for all Directories used by Steam.

Why do you people keep using these malware? In this day and age, Windows Security is good enough if you don't download stuff from unknown sources. Even browsers have built-in protection.

i'd uninstall Avast and use Basic Defender, it does the same job, and is better than 99% of anti viruses these days.

Stop downloading trash anti-malwares.

I've been using nothing for almost 6-7 years now and I've been safe from pretty much everything. Windows Defender has gotten super good over the years.

It's most likely that avast put the .exe in quarantine. Go to the quarantine, restore it and put it on a white list so it doesn't happen again.

Avast has always been manware-tier and has become even worse since being bought by Norton. If you are on windows 10+ and you don't visit the sketchiest sites ever, stick to windows defender. It's excellent nowadays and anyone saying otherwise hasn't used it in a decade. The ONLY AVs that may be better are enterprise grade ones that you can't afford.

If you think you need an antivirus, go all the way and ask Best Buy to install it for you

There's no need for dedicated antivirus programs anymore. Seriously, just use Defender and if it ever gives you issues establish exception lists.
