Mining pals
So i found out that one of my pals can destroy ore veins for me and have been using it constantly to reduce the need for tools. Is this intentional, and if so are there more that can significantly damage ore nodes?

Not the 30 dmg a a hit thy do when passively mining, but my one creature does 350-1200 dmg each spell.

Stuff gets hit by attacks constantly so yeah it's by design. I haven't really been out hitting things with spells on purpose because the refresh on my big hitters is 150 and it's just easier to mine it with a pick than fluff around loading up the Pals and then swapping and so on.
But yeah it happens.
Never known one to do it without being under player control though if that's what you are saying. Be interested to know which one if it does.
its intentional

Rushoar's charge is specifically designed to break down nodes

Digitoise also has a pal item that increases the damage done to ore

But it is much easier to just set up an auto mining base, throw in a few fox bats (early game) or Anubis (late game) and let them mine all the ore automatically while you do more important things.

How would you automate metal though? I got my...friends..working on the stone and lumber and other things. Do you mean make a base where 2-3 metal veins are nearby?

Build your base with as many ore nodes as you can find in it. make sure you don't block them with buildings and as they respawn you pals will mine them again.

Are several places throughout the game that have several ore nodes grouped together. You build a base at these locations, and place down 3-4 mining pals, and 2-3 transport pals (could have more or less depending on level). place a feeder and plop some food in. Lastly a box near the pal box as close as you can get. also a few hot tubs for good measure.

Your pals will mine the nodes, place the ore into the box. Every so often check the box and see what they have gathered up. Do be aware if you are on a dedicated server the pals bug out when you are offline and will not eat or care for themselves. So best to box them when you log off.

Hope this helps,

Edit:

Also if you are early on, you do get up to 3 bases as you level your base up. So don't fret if you only have 1 base you'll unlock a second down the road.

You'd probably have to condense Pals with mining abilities to make them worth using over just mining the nodes with a Pick.

Without Condensing:
1. Refined metal Pick
2. Rushoar Reckless Charge
3. Metal Pick
4. Efficiency Mount Pal Attacks
5. Digtoise (Their Partner Skill pretty much only mines 1 ore node and takes several minutes to recharge)
6. Stone Pick

Not going to include explosives, since those are consumable and require materials to make.
