I feel like Poison should be a type. I like the Idea of Air... makes me feel like dazzi and galeclaw and Fenglope would be very nice to be in that category. :D
The air attack is actually something from the Neutral element. So it is in there, but is just named Neutral.
Otherwise you end up with hair-splitting stupidity like rock being different from ground, dark from ghost, and "bandaid" types like fairy. Leads to overly convoluted type matchups that make it frustrating to get into the game without having played it for a long time prior.
More types just leads to unnecessarily convoluted bloat.
I'd rather they not introduce any new elements. If they do it might as well be a joke element like the element of Surprise.
