Does breeding pals with more stars make a difference?
Or is it irrelevant to the offspring?

I was told it was irrelevant. Don't actually know though =)

Stars don't affect anything other than the pal they're on. It doesn't get transferred through breeding, and doesn't affect condensation. Most of us wish it would count for condensation, but it is what it is.

each star ups a pals stats by a percentage. I have/had to in my normal difficulty solo playthrough to even stand a chance on bosses. The last or highest level tower boss will most likely need 5 pals at 4 stars and strong against whatever attack they have.

EDIT: You can't breed for stars, however, you can keep breeding said pals to "feed" your pal to get those stars, at the end you need 64 x 2 of that pal, so 128 feeder pals for the 1 team member pal. A total of 129 for a 4 star.

No. 64 + 32 + 16 + 4 = 116.. not 128. You need to essentially delete 116 of the same pal type to 4-star a single one.
