How should one build their Pal team?
With a wide variety of pals, there will always be a hand full that go above and beyond the rest, however having a team full of powerful pals may not define the best build as galewings shines out in its ability to help the players mobility, with that said, what would be a good ratio to have?

example: 3 for combat to 2 for utility

Build it however you want. Pretty much everyone is viable.

I try to for sure keep my fastest ground and flying mount, and also one of those glider pals, so there goes 3 already :D

Bird for flying
Dog for running
Boar for Mining
Sea Serpent for Surfing
Your Pal of choice for killing things

Fastest flyer you have, fastest land mount you have that'll fit into a dungeon, best glider you have, then two strong combat pals.

I favor a ground and a flying mount by default, I feed them skill fruits so I can adapt to bosses if needed, but you can fly over water, so I don't go for the sea serpent.

Mine goes:

Wolfie
Vanwyrm I was lucky to get with the speedy trait
A max level Alpha
A lower level Alpha so it can keep up (usually no more than 10lvl below mine)
A small thing that I want to make strong and brave

5 elements for combat flexibility, make sure some are mounts.

Running with either Lovander or Fellbat is a good choice as their main perk gives Lifestealing to both you and them. If not them then Lyleen or Petallia have a solid heal as well.

I avoid building the gliders in favor of gliding Pals, but I'm curious if the later game glider is worthwhile. Would be nice to clear up that spot, Galewings isn't very good in battle.

Curious, what's the advantage of a glider pal over a flying mount?

Flying mounts have their own stamina bars, gliding Pals use your Stamina (to hold on).
I use both. When you run out of flying stamina and need to go a bit further, switch to gliding. A lot of times, your flying mount will follow you as you glide, and you can re-mount mid air with a refilled stamina bar.

Also, Galewings in particular let's you use a gun while you glide, so it's nice to have in battle for quick glide dodges or floating and shooting.

Ah yes that makes sense. I'll try out a gliding pal and see how much it improves on my glider. Thanks :)

4 Combat and 1 flier with as many speed boost perks as possible.

Once you get the Jetdragon it's both a fast flier and a combat Pal.

They're just plain fun to ride lol.

Ignoring the size increase from lucky or world bosses, the bigger the pal the strong it is. If you are not using oversized pals you are going to be weaker then everyone else unfortunately. Wish I could make the smaller ones stronger
1 small mount for dungeons, one flier to get over mountains, galeclaw to instantly glide short distances, one worker pal with high handiwork and one pal for fighting

could replace one but then you'd be losing out on utility
