Super annoying breeding issue - not enough cake

I have tried breeding pals with multiple combinations, grintale, wiken etc...
But i always see the error, 'not enough cake'. I am adding the cake in the box outside the breeding pan, but I always see the same error. Even after wasting hours on making cakes, i am not able to breed any pals, this is really annoying.

Are you adding the cake to the box that gets built along with the breeding pen or are you just placing your own box next to it and adding it to that. Easy way to tell, if the cake timer is counting down, you are using the wrong box.

thanks a lot for ur quick response. I am adding the cake to the box which is next to the breeding pan with it, not to any chest, not feeding the cake to the pals.
the cake vanishes after a second when i place in the box, and when i walk to the center of the breeding pan to check the status, it always says 'not enough cake'. I have literally added more than 10 cakes now, and u know how time taking it is to generate a new cake..
The breeding pan is at the second base i created, at the nearest checkpoint after Palpagos ISland. I hope this info helps

Please dont consider this as a rant. but a friendly advise, breeding pals is one of the most thoughtful feature, and if it is not working as intended, then it kinda move people away from the game

If the cakes are being consumed then the eggs may be getting stuck in the floor. If that's the case you could try hopping on a mount and trying to pick them up through the floor. If the cake isn't being consumed then i'm unsure

It always says not enough cake after the egg is ready. That message is for the next egg. If you're not seeing an egg may be the egg has spawned in a position you cannot see. Have you built the breeding farm on a slope?

But i did not get or receive any eggs, there was nothing in my chest, or on ground, or in the box in the breeding pan, or inside the breeding pan even. i checked everywhere
Where do I find the egg then?is it always a normal white egg, or would it say something specific like electric or verdont or something else

in the breeding pen infront of the straw, or as yioou see it in front of the middle pole of the "shed".

It's rather big the egg and it is in the middle of the two pens the male and female pens. I think your egg is getting stuck under the ground. Move your breeding farm and try again.

The egg would spawn close to the centre of the breeding farm, I had the same problem and had to use a flying mount top pick up the egg which was getting stuck in the floor.

Suggestion: Pick your pen up. Put down foundations slightly raised up off the ground. Put pen back down on top of the foundations. Try doing it all over again.

As others a re saying your eggs are almost certainly falling through.

Best practice for any base building where items spawn on the ground is to put the building on a foundation. It'll keep any weird problems like the spawned items falling through the ground from happening.
