If you are playing on a multiplayer server, you are better to use food beyond berries to keep their sanity up and reduce the chance of coming back to them being sad, incapacitated, etc.
LIke any other production activity, you queue it up and then let your kindling pal cook them, you then later pick them up and place them in the food box.
This really shouldn't be an issue to maintain their efficiency, but that's up to you.
as someone else mentioned, they will farm and harvest and if you have fridges they will put the food there and it will stay good (assuming you have a cooling pal at the base).
Gatekeeping a single mechanic for a game that's in early access will certainly keep the tourists off of it. Got it. Thanks for your wisdom.
Easy food you can make for your personal use/combat team use is Cabanara, huge satiety and +20% defense buff and costs all the same ingredients you are already farming for cake and pizza. If you want some +attack food, you'll have to go get meat every now and then, but you can basically just only save that/get that before bosses or something.
So you dont want to get increased work speed and reduced sanity from better food?
Though they would also have to change how the feeder works.
Besides, there's no passive way to farm meat-based food. You have to go around manually killing stuff that drops meat. Given how few pals that is it would be a pain and a chore to sustain your base with meat-based food. I would rather explore and build than spend half my time running around in circles trampling Lamballs to feed my carnivores.
I've been using fried eggs for now. I've tried jam on toast but they seem to prefer berries over it >_>
