Did you know vendors sell pals you caught?

I caught a few Pals but was wondering about the "ball" being lootable on the ground indicating which Pal I just caught, never saw that and then realised my Palbox probably was full hence the drop of Pal in front of me in form of a sphere.

Some time passed and I don´t buy pets so didn´t give it much thought. I did check a vendor today and out of curiosity I saw the sales list and there were 4 with the tag "my Pals", those were the ones I caught but couldn´t fit into the Palbox.
