Pals filling up chests annoyingly
Please can something be done for Pals putting items in chests like a tick box on storage of all items so you can tick what items you want in what ever storage you have so that you can find things easier, I have gone around multiple times sorting out my chests to come back the next day to my chests all messed up again and having to just leave them how they are.

In the bug report feature thing is a suggestion feature. Maybe take this through to that if you haven't already?
I agree it would be nice to at the very least have an option to tick a box to say "Pals can/can't place items in here." I have chests sorted specifically and finding a random rock in there is dumb lmao.

Well since pals just bring stuff to the closest box, you need to manage your positioning of the boxes.

If you want privat boxes, you need to place them, where pals cant acess them.

put a coin for example in the empty slot in the box. than the pals cant put random stuff into it.

Suggestion: Put 1 honey in each empty slot. Honey never spoils and stops them from putting things in those slots.

This is annoying though and I wish we could lock a container from pal transporting access.

This is why I keep my storage away from where pals are working. That way they only use chests close to them.

For food stuff, I think pals prioritize putting them into the food box first and then the fridge next.

So if you make sure the food box slots are full you can get them to store your milk and eggs properly in the fridge.

I put the boxes I don't want them to touch in a room with a door. They won't open the door and route to the other boxes I have placed.

I never thought about it but now it does bother me and I agree.

Why are all of our pals so f'ing.... NOOB with organizing???
Now that I notice it's actually driving me bat s**t crazy.......

Rust/Conan/Valheim my storage organization was immaculate.

I think I haven't paid attention to it as much here because you can easily craft from containers, but it's still a problem.

Like why in the HELL did this cute lil floofer just put 10 threads in 20 different boxes...... you dumb #@$#@$@.

Put them all in the same box !!! (lol)

It would be nice if we could get some storage management features, such as the ability to restrict item storage by type or something of the sort.

The best workaround I've discovered in the meantime is putting chests in close proximity to work/production stations. If you don't want Pals storing items in a particular chest, then put it somewhere they can't reach.

Personally, I have a centralized storage location where I keep all my processed items. It's separated by two stories and I'm only able to access it by grappling hook.
I suggested a tick box in the security settings to allow pals to put things in it or not, or even an option to make pal only storage for groundwork in the future when hopefully they will autocraft/take materials from certain designated chests.

You can kinda work to make it right, but I agree, I definitely want better box slot management. I'd love to be able to tell the Pals to reserve a slot for x items only.
For now I just created decoy chests wherever they grab stuff from. It makes the base look a bit cluttered but at least they aren't touching my stuff. Another option is moving all the chests to an entirely separate area, pulling things out of the pal chests and bringing it to that separate area to drop/auto fill it out. But that's going to take awhile since I've got chests with heavy crud in it D:

I got a box next to each production facility, personal gear and items are in a house with the door closed. I'm sure they will add something like this but for now there's no use complaining here, time to think outside the box or submit a detailed feedback through the "bugs and feedback" feature. I already told them about the wack bamboo hitboxes instead of making a thread about it, there's no way they even look in these discussions.

So you can actually split single items from a stack!
This has helped me with organizing my base storage enormously along with a few other things. I use pretty much exclusively upgraded storage at this point and only really NEED 3-5 boxes around my main base.

Feed Box - Stack of food that you want your Pals eating, followed by Honey in a regular stack, and a single slot full of honey afterwards. This makes it so that if you notice your Pals eating Honey you know to fill their feeder, and if the stack of honey behind your intended food is big enough you wont suffer too many losses. Honey doesn't spoil so it keeps slots full.
Pals now bring everything aside from Honey to the Cooler/Fridge.

Wood/Stone/Paldium/Fiber all get split into multiple stacks inside a chest nearby the work stations, this minimizes how far my Transport pals have to move stuff, and ensures that those resources will be the only things in that box unless you use them all up.

I keep the majority of farmable items, or stuff that fills up my inventory when I go out inside a chest close enough to the Pal box to make my movement over bearable when over encumbered. Generally this junk chest gets Items like Flame Organs, Pal Fluids, Seeds, Wool, Leather, Ammo, Ect.

Blueprints, Skill Fruit, and other outdated Equipment get up to three boxes in my bedroom simply because they take up so much space as they generally don't stack. Usually these boxes are left unmolested by Pals because they have adequate storage for anything else they're doing elsewhere..

Also I didn't know this until probably 120+ hours but you can tap R to sort anything in your inventory into a box as long as it has a stack of a corresponding item.

That will get better as base functionality and path finding gets better with polish and updates. Don't bother trying to spread out your builds. I tried and they still randomly put stuff everywhere. Patience. It's EA.
Unrealtairo Feb 6, 2024 @ 10:07pm
Ya, I think placing a box at each station will have to be "the way" for now. Like some said it's not a 100% fix but its definitely better at least, even if only a little.

I tried to get the boxes right on top of the stations themselves so it kind of looks built in.

Not ideal but it sure beats watching these aholes place all my HQ clothes in 20 different areas with absolutely 0 logic or reason.
