Gamepass version difference
I was watching a streamer play last night and I noticed his version was 1.4.0 and he was clearly on PC.

I’m playing the game on gamepass, and my version is 1.1.3, which seems very outdated… why are the versions different from each other?

And does it mean that if I want to play with Steam friends, I would have to buy the game on steam?

To answers OP question.... Yes the Xbox version is massively outdated and behind. The version on Steam is the most recent and updated version with numerous fixes etc. The only way to play the most recent and updated version is to pay out for a steam copy.

Xbox and Steam can currently not play together but they will in future updates.

Their paying half a million dollars (400-480k) just to keep servers up PER month right now they said. They could easily pay to have this "update fee" done that the guy above me is even talking about. In my opinion. Bizarre risk to take to get the xbox playerbase pissed and looking negatively on the game.

edit: I wanna add that both versions are also still rampant with cheaters deleting servers and bases.

Will for one Steam allows for free updates were as other consoles and platforms requires an update fee. So like most they are waiting for probably getting what they can fix before releasing a mass update. Use Steam as a means to locate all the bugs.

Complain to M$ about updates taking too long, or buy the game on steam.

It's weird with Xbox&gamepass version you know how in the new update on steam you can now move while being over weight well the xbox&gamepass also has that fix in their new update as well even though it's a outdated version.

Right now both versions have all the same content except the Xbox&gamepass version doesn't have servers it's all coop or singleplayer & your missing simple things like naming pals & characters & guild's other than that it's just a older version.

Also Gamepass can crossplay with Xbox because their being updated together & the slower updates aren't the devs fault that's all on Microsoft.
