The amount of space needed for basic production lines is nutz...
As the title says, the amount of room I need to have in order for the Pals to even breath in the general direction of the back production line is nutz.

This is the amount of space I need for them to safely use that back line. I MIGHT be able to get closer than this, but I am not willing to mess with something that I've managed to consistently work.

I hope the Dev's will get this fixed, because this is a LOT of wasted space.

have to agree , they need to not only reduce the size of some pals but also the crafting stations are silly big and need a size reduction
Also, make pals click through. It's very irritating when they block stations.

also, so far, the best strategy to building/running an effective main base is to have a big open place, and have your pals operate from the center of the area outward.
so spreading things out in a circle around the center.
with things like Pal beds, farms and a feed box near the middle of the base.
and crafting stations positioned more towards the edge of the base facing inwards.
so Pals wont get stuck behind walls/crafting tables, trying to get to where they're going.

edit: also, storage.
make sure that there's storage near the places that generate resources that your Pals will want to transport to storage boxes.
so a box near your stone/tree farm, and 1 at the entrance of your ranch, will stop a lot of unnecessary AI wall humping.
This, exactly this.

Alot of transit is lost in transportation, so the biggest factor is storage pickup/drop off points, finding the right pal with Tier 2 and tier 3 working speed/transporting speed, and then keeping a dedicated 2-3 of them doing transportation, (in my case i do), and storage for output stuff. IE, like he mentioned, feed box/resource box/storage.

Edit: Worth mentioning my base, primary base, is a clusterfk. I had to build a secondary base to feed in the metals. Otherwise, i'd have a completely 100% self sustaining base, with just one base. I keep the 3rd as a teleport beacon. Kinda bites we can only have 20pals max (with out tweaking server or files, just local tweaking in app ui), and 3 palbases.

you kind of need both, the second production line doesn't have everything the first line has

that's only at first when you split off the Palsphere workbench and the quality crafting workbench. cause the quality crafting workbench wont let you make palspheres anymore.
the same happens later on when you get the weapon workbench.
past that point you'll have 3 chains of crafting workbenches that you need to upgrade seperately.
general work bench/assembly line.
pal sphere work bench/assembly line.
weapon work bench/assembly line.
once you have 1 of each assembly line lvl 1 you can get rid of all the work bench stuff.

this also works for the cooking fire, cooking pot, electric kitchen.
furnace, improved furnace, electric furnace.
medicine table, electric medicine workbench.
and all the basic storage options and cooled storage options.

what do any of the Assembly Line II buildings not have that the original has? every time I've gotten an upgraded building, it's had everything the lower tiers have had as well
:steamthis:That:steamthis:
@Yagger, I did a comparison myself before deconstruct my 1st and kept my second

Hadn't thought of that. Building up works eh? Like if I have 5 floors of production the pals will be able to navigate that? I notice the pathfinding around the farm is janky.
Use double wide stairs if you're looking to put production stuff on a higher level. Single staircases can be tricky for the AI to navigate but the double wide fixes the problem.

You can always resort to a "tower base" if you really need some space.

its not too bad latter in the game. there are alot of work arounds. You can have stuff pretty much on top of each other. like here all my benches work just fine pals can move to them and freely threw the whole base. i have some ss but cant post them here.

If I move the right line closer to the left line, Pals won't go anywhere near the left line.

https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198041775349/screenshot/2341377243200843354/

I had to move Sphere II this far away from the wall for them to go to it.

I've also found that they won't go to the lines if it's only 1 high for some reason. For me they just REFUSE to work on lines in a one high room. I've had to make it 2 high for them to work lines.

Personally I like the sizes of the lines and what not.

I also left out critical information in my original post: I am playing on a private dedicated server. At the moment I'm leaning towards dedicated server jank, but wondering if others have a "fix" or not.
