why the player numbers are dropping.
now i know the vast majority of us know how it all works, but obviously the topic keeps getting reposted.

and its definitely not just the same perpetually online twitter trolls who spend an unhealthy amount of time actively engaging with things they hate because rage is the only emotion strong enough to supplant their depression.

so heres a general explanation about why EVERY game sees player dropoff, yes even in quite large percentages.

1. Hype. any new release will have impulse buys, people who buy it because their favorite streamer played it, but turns out they didnt really like the game as much. this goes doubly for extremely popular games, like palworld. they may not want to refund, or just be past the 2 hour mark, but they do drop off playing very quickly.
and eventually this hype dies down as well.

2. Real life. quite a lot of people probably binged the game a bit when it came out, then real life hit, work and school, after the weekend and their playtime tanked. they still play, just not as much, not consistently, and probably not during the primetime of the day.

3. Completion. It's a survival craft game, there's a limited amount of things to do. this isnt fortnite where you play the same 30 minutes of game over and over, this has progression, goals, and an end point.
granted you can define your endpoint. i just completed my first solo world by catching every pal, beating all the tower bosses, and breeding a perfect team. took about 60-ish hours total, i upped some of the server settings to remove some of the grind tedium mid game.
some people get to that point and they stop, some get to that point and they restart on a new world, maybe with new friends or a new server.
this isnt the type of game the majority of the playerbase plays forever. but if a majority of the playerbase is getting 50+ hours out of a 27 dollar game, thats a pretty great game objectively. even if the player count decreases.

this is a tiny indie game, that broke several records. face it, youre wrong. the game was a massive success by every metric.

you can do all the coping and seething you want, but even if the player count hits zero tomorrow, the game is still number 2 all time concurrent player count by a rather large amount, and is still one of the best selling games ever. especially for an indie title.

pocket pair still became multi millionaires, ever one of the 12 or so employees mind you, while youre still selling coffee and complaining about it on 7 different social media sites.

steam still has the game listed without a 'use of AI' disclosure regardless of how many times you try to spread the rumor.

and the game was still certified as safe by a japanese copyright infringement detection system, and nintendo has still done nothing to the game for over 3 years now..

so how about this. go outside, get some fresh air, stop logging into twitter, find something you enjoy if that's even possible for you anymore and devote your time and energy to that rather than wasting all your free time raging on a forum for a game you absolutely hate. i guarantee youll actually start to feel better.

Official server wipes is the game killer for me.I was max level breeding legendaries. Now i have no interest in the game until i know i wont be wasting my time again

official servers need to wipe that's how every survival craft game works usually you get anywhere from a week to a month then server restarts and u do it again otherwise these kinda games get boring pretty quick eventually you will run out of stuff to do.

My main save file is on hard settings and is gonna run out of stuff to do before it even hits 100 hours, if wipes were a month on a server that equates to maybe 3-4 hours of gameplay a day to run out of stuff to do by the end of a month and thats on hard settings. This is also all done solo imagine you have a team of 4 to 5 tackling this they'll be end game in a week if they are efficient. All games of this genre require server wipes as the gameplay loops are not infinite and the game doesn't really punish you so there isn't much of a way to lose a lot of progress.

Yea I'm 110 hours in and hit a wall.. got to lvl 44 and only did 2 towers but spent about 25 hours breeding 4 basically perfect pals and burned myself out.
People who played single player or on a tiny private server with their 3 closest friends finished the game. most of them changed the difficulty sliders allowing them to blitz through the game as fast as possible, on top of this everyone and their grandmother used every exploit to get overpowered tower bosses as pals or to cheese every boss using either insta kill or insta catch exploits. this is because gaming journos that dont play video games put out articles about these exploits and made them go mainstream, so if you werent already searching for those on youtube, you ended up hearing about them anyway.

No one has played an official server on normal setting and cleared all content, because its not possible between hackers wiping your base once or twice a day and the multitude of corruption bugs causing you to lose all progress. so the only way you could've completed this game is in single player or on a private server with your best mates.

so yeah, people who didnt really care about the game and just wanted to have fun for a weekend cleared it as fast as they could in one weekend. thats pretty normal, and to be expected for a game that was just a meme game.

but that doesnt affect official servers. the reason official server player count is down is because of the reasons i listed above. the hackers and corruption exploits wiping everyones bases and save data caused people to eventually give up.

We'll see if the game can recover. But I think itll be one of those games that is only kept alive by a dedicated community, not kept alive on life support by mainstream support.

I stopped playing after dealing with the 5 hackers in 2 days. The hacker that made me say ♥♥♥ this game is when the hacker killed everyone on the server, destroyed everyone's base and deleted everyone's Pals. The hacker then taunted the server saying he is God and ♥♥♥ you all Anericans. I called it quits after that.

I'll come back to the game when there's SOMETHING along the lines of an anti-cheat system.

it does have link in-game via menu showing how to back up your stuff and go to a previous point so i am sure it can be restored.
I dont believe u can modify official server data. If that waas possible people would just go full exploit

Naaaa, what kind o loser wants to repeat the same experience again every month. If thats their plan the game will fail hard. They need PVP and PVE endgame not this survival ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
