What's up with the level scaling in this game?
Am I pathing around incorrectly, or are the difficulties of certain areas basically random? For example, I'm level 42 and I have just now gotten around to exploring more of the map. Specifically, I have just reached the Forgotten Island on the northwest side of the map. I was incredibly confused when all of the Pals were below level 10 and there were NPCs still giving me tips for playing the game and selling really weak Pals. To get to this island, which is presumably a beginner area, you need to go through several areas that have Pals in the level 20-30 range. What's the point of putting a beginner area this far into the map? Nobody in their right mind is walking this far out before they're level 10. Really makes the island feel like a complete waste of space when they could have put properly scaled Pals there.

There are multiple alternate low-level starting points.
Moving up, It's desert, volcano and then arctic region.

Yeah, in the larger scope of it all, the game IS pretty much just composed of areas of 'random' levels.
They weren't really designed randomly, and had a purpose for the devs, but as players all we see is a mess of confusing nonsense.... lol

This is a general problem with pretty much ALL Multiplayer games with PvE elements in them. This is especially true when you add an open-world on top of that, which will often make it possible for players to go from a low-level area directly into high-level areas.... which is really what creates most of the 'mess' and confusion.

It's because u don't remember but when you started the game, you could choose between 6 spots to spawn. These 6 spots each 2 of them were in an island totaling 3 islands which they are all starting areas, the difference between the 3 of them are one has abundant pal and resources, the other has ok amount of pals and less resources and the last one has less pals and even less resources.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The multiplayer part makes sense. I've only played this game alone, I don't remember ever getting the option to choose an area to spawn

Yeah there's like pockets of low level pals in weird places. Took me forever to explore South, only to realize I should've went that way first. But I see why it is now.

You ALWAYS start at the same 'default' temple area when starting a single-player game. There is no 'choosing' of your spawn point or anything like that with single-player games. That ONLY happens when you start on a multiplayer server.
You will only notice these things when you start BOTH, a single-player AND a multiplayer save. Otherwise the game will just seem to be one-way or the other for everyone.

When you die, you can click on a number of bird statues on the map. Even if you never visited these locations before.

https://www.palpedia.net/map

They're inside the 1-15 level zones on this map.
