Can't get Pals to mine ore for more than few seconds

I have level 2 or 3 pals I set to mine the ore but they absolutely stop after the first few seconds and I can't get them to stay focused on it. Mostly they just walk around and do nothing. I currently have a digtoise on my base and he just doesn't do it. No amount of times throwing him at the ore gets him to do it. Food isn't an issue at all. It says he is in good condition but this is becoming a real annoyance. Does anyone have any ideas or tips on how i can correct this?

What mining rank do they have? Stone mining requires rank 1. Ore mining requires rank 2 mining. Coal and sulfur need rsnk 3 I think. And quartz needs rank 4.

that particular pal has level 3 mining

Mine pal digi in the base seems to prioritize the stone quarry but if he gets hungry alks to the food and its near the ore. He will sometimes then go "hey ore" and mine. But i just carry a digi on me thaat i leveled up. if i throw him at the nodes he'll wipe them all out.

I can't seem to get mine to do that. He does it for a few seconds at most and then just does nothing but walk around. I basically have to mine the ore myself and let the fire pals make the ingots

Last night i was building and for whatever reason a random ceiling threw off my digis waypoints or whatever. I followed him around a minute and he was doing the same thing. I ended up having to raise a ceiling to get him to go through again. Do you have anything that might be confusing or blocking him?
Oh as well does he have a bunch of negative traits? I captured a few until i got one thats Artisan and he literally never stops. I went from zero stone to 10k in no time.
I had pals with negative traits that simply refused to work so i squished them.

I actually did breed 1 anubis. I will have to check him cause the digi is absolutely useless lol
