also if you are using an amd platform instead of intel, make sure to update bios as that can improve your memory oc stability.
also might need to raise your memory controller voltage to get it stable but do not raise it too high, do not do it if you have no idea what you are doing. obviously if there is xmp/expo profiles use them and then do manual oc if you have to.
It can and usually does void your warranty, that's still true.
Games do not have problems with overclocked PCs, your PC will have problems if the overclock isn't stable though.
Your PC doesn't "break down faster" this isn't 1998, if you push it stupidly high then yes it'll cause damage sooner but nothing normal desktop users will notice. It's still usually over 10 years which most people have replaced the parts by then anyway.
Finally, the power consumption doesn't increase massively either, it's usually barely 10% depending on the specific piece of hardware you're trying to overclock. The whole point is to overclock efficiently not just throw more wattage at it which leads to overheating and the damage you suggested earlier.
or just loosen up the timings and see if that works out
Memory controller is on the CPU these days and it is not every CPU out there which pulls it off due to the silicon lottery. Remove all overclocks and keep the Ram at 6400 and start doing stress tests before overclocking.
Personally i think overclocking is a thing of the past though, but that is just my opinion.
Good luck.
