I'm on fire

I keep being lit on fire in the volcano area, but I have no idea how to put myself out. I've tried rolling, I've tried letting out a water pal, nothing works. How do you put yourself out when you're on fire?

alternatively... dont swim in the lava pools.

I didn't even get close to it. I flew over lava on my pals back and I was suddenly on fire

You don't go to that area until you have heat resistant armor or enough rings and underwear to not burst into flames based on the temperature gauge on the bottom left of your screen. Or go at night when it is slightly cooler.

You don't need to touch the lava, flying above lava pools is enough to make you and your pals catch on fire. Dodge the pools even while flying.

Edit: Not sure if ALL lava pools does that, but the ones near Jetragon surely does.
