Why are there so many places with no fast travel points?!

I have no instant teleport item like in other games, why do I have to walk all the way back?

there are plenty of fast travel statues around the map. You are never far from one.

You are far from one if you go into the desert. Really far from one if you go onto the far south island for Grizzbolt. Most of the teleporters are clustered around the center of the map.

That’s debatable. Most of the center of the map is well covered. The snowy mountains and the volcanic island, however, not so good. Both are endgame areas.

You are far from one if you go into the desert. Really far from one if you go onto the far south island for Grizzbolt. Most of the teleporters are clustered around the center of the map.

There is one in the desert at that dune village about the middle of the desert. Not far at all.

Don't know about the southern island havnt been down there yet.

Keep one of your base slots open and keep enough materials to make a palbox. plop it down to use the fast travel function and break it when you're done.

Partly it's by design, and partly because not all aspects of the game world are complete yet. I'm sure more areas will be improved with spawns, fast travel, and specific content as we go along.

Was referring to the smaller desert around (-130, -110). That said, the large desert area at the top right only has 4 fast travel points according to a map online, leaving the far tops and bottoms of that zone empty. Same for the ice mountains and volcano areas mentioned by Caz.

Meanwhile, none of the small Reserve islands have a teleporter at all.

There's a lot of pals that are only located in these deadzones, which makes farming them a chore because of the extra travel time.

You are never far from anything with the current FT points and a good flyer. Not even talking about jetdragon. Something decent like a beakon will get you places. It takes less than a minute for me to go to grizzbolts island from the closest FT point on my helzephyr.

It might be less than a minute there with a late-game mount (I haven't actually timed that), but it's a round trip there and back unless you're leaving a base slot open. Helzephyr doesn't travel that route that fast.
