Hangyu best glider/flyer solution?
Holy crap man, the description in the pal dex doesn't do this pal justice. Not only does it act as a glider, you actually GAIN height when you use it and it stays on a fairly flat trajectory for a long time, and to gain more height all you have to do is let it go and then grab it again.

My personal world has stamina requirements turned down to the lowest setting because it's annoying and with a grappling hook to give me speed I can literally "fly" a hangyu between islands faster than any of the lower to mid level flyers, not to mention most ground mounts.

And if you want to go down? Just slow down your speed and kind of circle in place and it will slowly drop you towards the ground.

Teleport to any high point you want or just a fairly flat surface with a grappling hook and you can speed your way anywhere.

It got the point where I am seriously considering replacing any fliers I have until I get something like jetragon later on in the game.

*edit* For those who don't understand what my post is saying, I'm saying that Hangyu is the best glider/flyer for exploration and island traversal from early game all the way to late game UNTIL you get Jetragon. Until then, even if you get a good flyer with the swift bonus, Hangyu with a grappler is still faster.

Been playing around with different gliders and the only one I don't think has a use-case in comparison is Celaray (sans being 2 levels earlier than Killamari and decent speed, but you get the grapple at 12 so its kind of moot)... Worth nothing, you don't need much setup at all for ANY of the gliders. Acceleration from a very slight elevation (or even flat) with the grapple on the ground will give you enough momentum to shoot yourself ahead. You can retain speed while turning by holding W and strafing with your mouse (kinda like you do in some FPS games lol).

Galeclaw is the best when it comes from accelerating from a dead-stop, but they also drop the fastest. This isn't necessarily bad at all for combat purposes and shooting while being able to glide is amazing. But they're not winning in the traversal department (although, still good). They're the combat glider, and they're damn good at it.

Hangyu is the undisputed king of traversal. They are the worst when it comes to accelerating from a dead-stop (and doesn't get better by leveling, unlike Galeclaw), but with the grapple and the height it gives you can make some really stellar distances that seems unrivaled. With some practice you can even use it in dungeons and just fly across rooms, provided you're timing it well.

Speaking of dungeons, Killamari is a happy medium between the two of being somewhat more of a flat traversal glider, which is pretty useful there. Early glider too that transcends Galeclaw in distance. Also worth noting is that, according to some datamines, Killamari has the least stamina consumption after upgrade by far (2 compared to Galeclaw/Hangyu's 6). Its pretty noticeable, although by Hangyu can make more distance just by the notion of being able to make yourself for longer periods of time in the air to save up stamina.

So... I'm a Hangyu lover now, but by extent also a Killamari lover.
...But also a Galeclaw lover...

TLDR: Gliders are good. All of them, even Celaray.

Hangyu is much better than galeclaw for exploring the whole world, searching for eggs, etc.
Galeclaw is best for combat and situations.

Hangyu+Tech is equal or slightly better than Jetragon

I used hangyu for a while, but I like galeclaw better personally. Galeclaw does have a downward trajectory, but it's much more shallow than the crafted gliders and it accelerates immediately when you use it, so you don't need to do any momentum tricks like the grappler or sliding.

Also, I'm sticking with galeclaw just cuz I got swift runner nimble on one, and I wanna see how fast it is at max stars. It also feels good to use in battles for mobility and still being able to land head shots with the SSR while gliding feels slick. I also like my swift nimble runner faleris so I just use that if I need height. Hangyu will save you a pal slot though, so if you like that, for sure keep going with it. You should breed em and see how good it is at max stars and with speed passives... for science.
