I've never actually tested galeclaw myself since I haven't crafted the glove yet, but from what I understand galeclaw is the "fastest" glider, but does it act like other gliders and just start high and then go on a downward arc from your starting position? Or is it a flatter trajectory?
Right, it's fast, but does is gain height or keep a flat trajectory?
Because with hangyu and some speed I can travel multiple islands basically without doing anything but refreshing my height every so often. And shooting from a fast moving glider sounds difficult if your aim is to catch a pal or something like that, but I get the appeal.
It keeps a flat trajectory for a longer time plus it's effected by swift and runner trait but gale claw does not gain height but you can use the grabbler in mid glide for that. Also it's great for combat for late game dodging
Just tested it and I definitely like Hangyu more. I have a base up on a cliff near the Vaelet boss and tried both. I tried just running and jumping from the top of my base with both towards the boss arena and also using the grapple gun to get a bigger boost of speed on both.
When using the Galeglaw I didn't notice any significant boost in speed over the Hangyu in both instances.
When aiming towards the boss arena the Galeclaw lost height very quickly and landed me about halfway up the heavily wooded hills slightly beyond the boss arena. There was nothing to grapple to to increase my height because I was above all the terrain until that moment.
The Hangyu, though, took me OVER the hill above the boss arena and over the other side, with speed, and I didn't have to refresh my height gain even once.
Yeah, you can shoot from the Galeclaw, but if you want speed AND distance, Hangyu is definitely better. You could literally fly UP a mountain with Hangyu as a glider without really any special things to do whereas with Galeclaw you have to have some kind of higher nearby terrain to grapple to in order to gain height and you would have to do that constantly while also losing height as soon as the grapple is over.
You can find it in any dessert area. The easiest and lowest level ones I have seen are near the bamboo forest where the Quivern boss is. Just look off the top of the cliff towards the ice mountains. You will also find digtoise there which is a good mining pal for personal use instead of having to carry around a pickaxe.
Will have to agree to disagree. Just tested both and I like Hangyu a lot more for long distance travel.
Hangyu is good if you can gain speed somehow.. which is a setup. Galeclaw is a complete solution right out of the box.
case in point
Yeah, but Jetragon is a super end game flyer and is very hard to get until much later when you can craft legendary spheres and even then is a very tough fight unless you have a rocket launcher or cheese the fight by getting it stuck on terrain.
I'm talking about a glider/flyer that can take you from early game to late game without needing to replace it.
MUCH later I will get a Jetragon, yes, but for now, Hangyu has been best solution I have found rather than running around trying to get a mid level flyer with a swift trait on it.
And someone mentioned that Hangyu is affected by runner and swift traits, so I am now running around trying to find one because that would be OP lol
I definitely get where you are coming from on that and that would be cool to see :)
