Cannot get dedicated server settings to change
I've tried everything, I'm editing the PalWorldSettings.ini in D:\palworld_server\Pal\Saved\Config\WindowsServer NOT DefaultPalworldSettings.ini. I made sure there were no spaces and that it was only using 2 lines. Any help is greatly appreciated, I just dont want huge eggs to take 72 hours of server time to hatch :(

The only thing I can see that might be an issue is the path not being case sensitive, but that might be a Steam issue as it shows correctly in the quote reply- [/script/pal.palgameworldsettings] vs. [/script/pal.palgameworldsettings]
EDIT - yeah it's a steam issue as it didn't correctly capitalize

Probably a non-factor, but you only need to include the settings you want to change. You don't need to copy over every setting.

My only other suggestion is to yoink the eggs and reset them. I'm not positive, but I feel like the time didn't adjust for eggs already incubating.

If you have not reset the eggs they will show the old time.. so if you already had eggs incubating then you would not see the updated time reflected unless you take them out and put them back in.

I've been playing around with this and it doesn't seem to matter what the ini file says. I set a password and it doesn't prompt me for it. DeathPenalty set to none and still drop everything. I change the incubation time to 15 instead of 72, the egg I had in the incubator removed and replaced, still gonna take 6 hours, for a regular egg. Not large, not giant. It's annoying since this same egg takes 5 minutes in the solo play version but you are locked there in ways as well. You can never have more than 15 pals.

Are you changing the actual file in the save folder or the "Default" file which is the backup .ini file? Because if the file says "Default" in it's name it's the wrong file and you aren't supposed to change that file. It's what your world would change to if you hit "reset to default settings".

was working for me until last update

make sure the server is down before you change it, the settings also have to be all on one line for it to work.

Is there a way to make the server run a world that I already played on. Migrating it to the dedicated one?
Druark Feb 7, 2024 @ 8:00am
If you've converted your world from an SP world to dedicated using the script below, you need to delete the worldsettings.sav (might be worldoptions.sav? I can't remember but it's close to that). Otherwise your world is treated like an SP world and will only update through that file instead of using the PalWorldSettings.ini like a normal dedicated server.

my buddy just changed setting on a Dserver and it made the world super laggy, nearly unplayable. he changed the same thing, time for eggs to hatch. the question i have is he used the interface with the Dserver (Gportal) to change it. any suggestions on how to fix?

Use
https://palworldoptions.com/
Place the file it generates in Pal/Saved/SavedGames inside that directory is your save game folder, most are a folder named 0, but that can change.
Inside that folder is another long folder name, and inside that you should see files named Level.sav and LevelMeta.sav, paste the WorldOptions.sav file into that folder and reboot your server, it will override all the options on reboot.

I have this exact issue and yet, this advice seems like an insanely bad idea. Random website, give your WAN, and it has a specific piece of software running on it and specific ports opened... Talk me off this ledge?

What are you even talking about? All this site does is generates a working WorldOption.sav file based on the settings you feed it. You can either enter your server's settings manually in the fields provided, or click the "Import Settings" button to paste in your PalWorldSettings.ini file directly.

If you are so concerned about opsec here, remove your IP information from your PalWorldSettings.ini before submitting it or simply don't enter it into the fields provided if you're doing it all manually. EDIT: Though I'm not sure how the game will handle missing IP info in WorldOption.sav, maybe it will load the info secondarily from PalWorldSettings.ini but I haven't tested myself so YMMV.

For what it's worth, I used that site to fix my dedicated server and it worked fine for me. That was like two weeks ago and my network hasn't exploded from tEh BiG hAcKeR mAn$ but maybe they're lying in wait like digital ninjas :shrugguy:
