Put it in, 200 minutes to spoil > 190 minutes left when Chillet goes to eat, once he starts cooling again, 160 left > Chillet goes to sleep for 12 minutes, by the time he starts cooling again, means the spoil time is at 40 minutes. > goes to eat for a minute > 20 minutes left > boom a cake gone.
Ultimately, you can expect the time to spoil about doubled for things in cooler, NOT the time it says on the UI, unless you keep mnually refereshing the cooler every 2-5 minutes (that resets timer and is a bug, but hey).
TL,DR leave valuable things like cakes either in cooking station or in the breeder box, otherwise you will inevitably lose them.
