Funnily enough tho, if you had 80, that would take some 27 hours for them all to spoil, since they are at 20 minutes and go one by one.
Also if you have to store food long term, just leave it inside the thing that cooked it. It doesn't start counting down until you pick it up.
I can't imagine that "Sleeping" would take up a whole 15 mins of gameplay. As for keeping it in the cooker, I considered that after the fact but unfortunately I needed it to cook some food for my character that was starving.
