I got and 6800m and it's a lucky day when it hits 60fps. With low settings.

you don't need higher FPS than that, if you let the GPU run wild it will just generate more unneeded heat and power i cap my 4080 at 90 and it barely touches 37c
if i let it run wild it it draws nearly 350watts and reaches 55c
also this game pushes my PC nearly 830watts total without limits.

The human eye can really only process approximately 60 FPS anyway. The eye doesn't really act like a computer monitor so there is no easy corollary, but 60 FPS is the generally agreed upon number.

This is the same as the old audiophiles swearing their gold core cables make their old Beatles LPs sound better.

To be fair, the human eye does not operate in terms of FPS, the 24-60 FPS is the approximation currently for discussing visual fidelity.

Point is, you guys are paying extra to be able to brag about something that doesn't even matter, like gold cables.

Gold cables still have a place in the analog world. Gets a little iffy when we are talking about a digital signal for sure though.

It does not matter how hot your GPU is, it produce the heat and you can see that on the Watts that the GPU is using.

Low Settings on a 6800m and just barely 60 fps is not normal, maybe your Laptop CPU is holding back the GPU, if that is true then you can increase texture Quality and see if the CPU get less used because if you crank the Settings higher then the GPU works more and the CPU less (depend on what kind of Settings but Textures and Particle effects of Shadows and so on are Rendered by the GPU, things like View distance ( Render Distance ) have a big inpact on the GPU and CPU.

This is actually inaccurate (I used to believe it too) Its true that 60 fps is sort of the 'sweet spot' when it comes to what the human eye can see, but they can notice higher frame rates but there is a significant drop off in effectiveness after 60 fps.

the key word is smootness, i play in 144 or 165 fps because there is a day and night difference how smooth the picture is compare to 60 fps and to get a good use of a high refresh monitor you will need higher FPS then 60.
I mean you cant even see 60 pictures a secound for sure but you notice some stuttering, hard to explain but if you have a good monitor and a good PC setup you will notice alot.

Same count for 1080p i cant play games in 1080p anymore because the difference between 1080p and 1440p is not that much but if you understand how much better the Anti Alaising is on higher Resolutions.

And 4k is useless because even a 4090 cant deliver you in all games 60 fps at max settings without DLSS (and DLSS Is nothing more then a downgrade in graphic) this is why i play in native always.
