Current patch broke caves
version 0.1.4.0.
Before this patch, caves worked just fine, they had a massive expiration timer before entering for some reason, you beat them, then they had a 10 minute timer before resetting, allowing for you to repeat caves.
That seems to be broken. If the timer after beating a cave goes to zero, the cave entrance just becomes sealed up, you can't interact with it, and it doesn't change back to being open. Ever.



How this happened is beyond me. Truly the game of all time.

the cave entrance closing up is what happened whenever i beat a cave even before this patch - they reopen later usually - though i have no timer for how long it takes to reopen

No, they simply don't reopen anymore. Before, they respawned in like, 10 minutes? Now even after 2 hours, the same one still retains the appearance of a blocked-off entrance. This was never seen before, caves never changed the entrance appearance after clear, no matter how many repeats.

Hopefully this embeds/can be seen. I've done tons of cave repeats before this patch, but they never changed the opening appearance, they had the same black entrance with a timer, name and boss level. Now, they change the appearance, it can't be interacted, it never opens up again. This is truly the game ever.

as far as cave entrances go, they do have rotating spots, and it seems like not all caves are active all at once. i've had play sessions where a certain cave nearby just wasn't active at all. never opening again could be a problem but as far as caves being inactive at times thats normal and has been the case since release.

This is an interactive map for the game, allowing you to find the location of pretty much everything. If you hide all then reveal dungeons, you can go to any of those spots, given you're at or above the boss level (it won't show up if you're underleveled, dumb choice but I digress), and it will be there. Again, before this patch, these never "rotated", the same cave entrance would never close after being cleared, and the cave would be refreshed with new loot and pals after the post-clear expiration timer of around 8-10 minutes. They never closed before, and even if they did, they wouldn't take over 2 hours to respawn, since sealed realms only take a hour. Even then, if they were going to respawn, they'd show a timer, sealed realms and caves both do this. Now, not only do caves change the opening to the completely closed off one after the post-clear timer, they show no timer anymore, indicating they'll not respawn, since the intended timer is gone. Check the video I already posted here, caves simply didn't work this way before the current patch.

ok, you misunderstood, i didn't at all mean that they would appear in different random locations, im well aware that a dungeon entrance will be a dungeon entrance in the same spot on the map at all points in the game. However, whether or not the dungeon is active or not does rotate it has functioned like that since the game released, inactive entrances do not give timers to indicate when the will activate again. i have had sessions where certain entrances have not opened at all, just went to a different spot. has this been every entrance for you or only certain entrances.

I've had the same experience as Rayquaza608. I'm hesitant to say they are bugged quite yet.

Yeah, cave entrances rotated based on the available ones and were open for a period of time, then you clear it or don't go in at all, the timer runs out, and then it closes. It then opens at some other time. If you were in it at the time the timer runs out, it will be closed when you exit. Been that way since I started playing.

It's been an on-off switch with this patch. Last patch, every dungeon I cleared would always respawn, no like, only some are open some are not, they never reverted to that closed state for me, and some of them I cleared around 5 times, same dungeon, never went to the closed state, and like, 20+ clears total never had a single one close.
Now this patch, every one I've cleared so far has gone to the closed state, like 5 or so different dungeons all went straight to closed after I cleared them. Even after other clears and over 2 hours of waiting, they didn't reopen.

Sorry if I sounded like, bossy/pushy earlier, but it's just baffling the experience I had, being such a hard shutoff. If all of you had this kind of experience, there is a chance it's simply how they were designed and I got really specific luck for it to appear like this. Does it still seem the same to all of you?

But then I just have to question W H Y it was designed that way, negative gamefeel moment lmao

I had several closed before the current patch. Some of them, I've seen be open every time I've checked. Two days ago I went to the snow zone and two dungeons I cleared before were closed.

dungeons normally change to a 10min timer after you finish the boss (whether you collect the chests or not) then close the entrance for 3-5 in game days before reopening, not all dungeons can be open simultaneously this is why the caves have a 300min timer before they expire naturally, all of them will have staggered timers ie one might be 254min and one might be 213min, you simply have to wait, this is how they've worked since 0.1.1

i have had caves closed for two days (just before this patch) but found another cave very close open that i had not noticed before ( was a new area to me so might of been there at same time?)

Thing is, I feel like way more than 3-5 game days passed before the ones I cleared in this patch reopened. I'll check later to make sure, between like 5 different dungeons, but that's kinda crazy that they close for that long, since according to a quick google search, that's 3-5 hours of waiting, while sealed realms have a consistent 1 hour cooldown and never are closed in this way. Given, you can make these cycles about twice as fast with sleeping, but that's still a big inconsistency. Game design amirite?

you have way more dungeons to rotate than bosses, so no big inconsistency
