breeding bug
Somone else haven this annoying bug that your 2 assigned pals, which are supposed to breed, automatically unassign themselfs and wandering aimlessly around your base?

I toss them into the breeding facility and they just wander off and I get the massage "there's nothing to do". I have to toss them in multiple times in different angles, put them back in the pal box and take them out again countless of times until it finally works.
It's a time consuming progress to reassign them...
Even worse, it's not only happening when I'm away from base for too long, sometimes just turning around is enough.
And I'm not talking about them going to their foodbowl or hotspring, they really just wander randomly around. Everything is right next to them so they really shouldn't do that.
Actually, now that I'm thinking of it... I've never seen breeders using a hotspring.
Maybe that's the issue? They want to, but for some reason can't?

Happens to every crafting station. The fix I found is just to scrap it and rebuild. Works every time but it is indeed a pain.
i've only have that happen like once or twice, and usually i'm just sitting in base waiting for them to breed if that helps.

Happens to me all the time. The only way to fix the broken pal is to put them away in the pal box and pull them back out. It resets any progress for mating which sucks... had this happen almost everytime I try to breed. If its not that its a base raid that wipes my whole base cause I teleported.

Put the pens far from the edge of the base as possible. Sometimes they walk outside the pen, and if on their way back, they cross the base border, they unassign themselves and go wander/find other work.

Also placing food bowl right outside, along with couple beds make the whole breeding go a hell lot faster AND eliminates the risk of them getting stuck while travelling to get food or sleep. Can't see much rhyme or reason to how or why breeding pals sleep, because they usually skip sleep completely, but then suddenly need some mid-day. Springs are not needed, as sex apparently counts are relaxation for pals.

Building it like that led to me getting good 90+ eggs without single dissapearing pal, despite me visiting base only to collect eggs, mostly.

TL,DR: Pen close to border or right on the edge = endless frustration while breeding.
