The metal grind ?
How do people do ? I play with 3X and it takes FOREVER, especially because our pals stop working as soon as we log off .. I'm lvl 35, and I noticed I need a ♥♥♥♥ TONS of materials just to make a few spheres .. That won't even reach 25% chances to succeed ?

5 refined iron PER sphere ? I've been afking at my base for hours

get pals with mining buff, set resource gather to x3 set resource to less hp, increase respawn rate.
does your multiplayer bases run while you afk? if no then that's the biggest problem.

wow 3x sheesh.

i'm on default settings and have stacks of 9999 ore.

use a digtoise in your party, or build a mining base on a cluster of ore.

Delegate more. I have two bases at large concentrations of ore with a large number of mining pals (level 2 mining or higher for ore) at them. There are also pals which provide a bonus to mining with their saddle, and the mining foreman trait can be helpful.

I also have two furnaces which are going non-stop with the highest kindling pals I can find assigned to them. Electric furnaces are quite a bit faster once you unlock them. You're also going to hit the same wall with pal metal and legendary spheres unless you delegate to your pals more.

Also, you don't need to sit there and stare at your furnaces while the ingots are being made. Go gather ore instead of afk'ing in your base for hours.

Also also, if you only have a 25% chance to succeed with your best sphere at the refined ingots level, then you probably need to go back to a lower level island and finishing catching 10 of each pal to level up and unlock better spheres.

i have 2 bases at well known points and then a third base on top of some mountain which has lots of ore and coal i left it a while as base 2 was my original ore farming place but the new place has far more stuff so the second base is gonna have to move to a sulfur aread

I have 2 bases at ores locations, one of them has 6 of them land whales with mining Tier 2, but still, after 15MNS they gathered barely 40 Ores .. Same at my main base.

I don't afk next to the forge, just in the base, or it seems like they work VERY slow otherwise :/

As for the turtoises : They only deal hits of 1HP each on the ores, after 1 full spin it drops ONE ore ?

I'm using 4 Rank 2 Digtoise ( each with Ferocious and points into attack ) and 1 Beakon to get around. Basically I fly to a mining site and setup a palbox as fast travel point. Now I use my Digtoise's partner skills to mine the ores, let it fully spin to the end so the CD charges, rotate to the next Digtoise and repeat until all the ores are mined. During all that I collect ores with the grappling hook and leave the stacks at the palbox. Usually 1 mining site grants about 3-400 ore. The final step is just grappling near palbox, collecting ores and using fast travel to the base to deposit my loot. Now I can fast travel back, destroy the palbox and fly to the next mining site.

To prepare that I caught 119 Digtoise ( you need 4 with +DMG since shellspin partnerskill is considered a damaging attack ) and leveled each of them twice ( fusing increases attack AND the partner skill rank for even more damage and duration ).

Lastly I just needed the grappling hook to get around ( higher rank is better for range and cd but even the first one is decent ).

It takes me about 2-3 minutes max to finish a mining site and deposit between 3-400 ore or coal and I can do it each day.

I prefer this method since I don't have to bother with managing a base for it.

Also Digtoise is bugged currently if you assign him to your base, so if you have a base for mining you want to use someone else - otherwise mining will take forever.

I have not had good luck with the digtoises as a base mining pal. The other turtle thing, reptyro, seem to work a lot better for me. They're pretty high level, but you can probably get one or two from egg hunting around the volcanos. The tombats seem to be decent at mining, too, and as a dark type, they'll happily mine through the night, too.

Build their collar and they do 20 per hit. I use 9 tombats and 3 digtoise at my mining base with 2 squids from a cave for carriers and I stack 1500+ ores a in game day on 3x, it took me 4 in game days to hit a stack of 9999 ores.

Ore is the second slowest thing to mine after quartz. You need a lot more than 6 tier 2 mining pals to put a dent in a large group of ore. Tier 2 = 20-25 damage per hit, tier 3 = ~45 damage, tier 4 = ~60 damage.

If you play on default setting yes it does get riddiculous. The basic math calculation is each ore node give you 40 ore exactly. Each ore mine give you around 10-15nodes. So each day per each reset give you around 400-600 ores. Assuming you mine and exhausted those nodes everyday, 200-300 ingots is enough. But on early 30s and 40s you need thousands of those ingots and legendary sphere even took 4ore+2pal. In that case I do going around from TP to TP to farm ores. All of my base farm ores. 1st base is ore only, 2nd is coal+ore, 3rd is ore+quarts. Boss/alpha dugtoise is nice as your party member. Since he is very big it can hit multiple ore 3-5 at once when you activate his skill. Get him out while you are in the base, while you do your things he alone can decimate all the nodes pretty easily. If you have anubis, tombat, penking, dugtoise it just help you a bit but in my experience those are never reliable enough.

Luckily there are at least 8 points or easily more that I know of that is ore mine which each around 8-12 nodes probably 15 if you include nodes a bit further also. So this game is quite generous at giving ore. If the default setting is too grindy, most people set it to higher multiplier anyway. There is nothing wrong in that.

A few tips I have found.

1. The type of pal you have in your mining base matters. Just because it says they are suitable for certain types of work, doesn't mean they will actually do that work efficiently.

Example is digtoise. Fantastic for mining rocks at the base quarry that the game lets you set up, but not with natural nodes since it only does 1 damage per spin. BUT, amazing personal digtoise mining if you carry it with you.

I would try out a few different pals with mining abilities and see which ones perform the best passively at the base on natural nodes. At my mining base I have a bunch of reptyro running around and they seem to do a good job.

2. Transport pals are the same way. Just because they say they can transport, doesn't mean they do it well. I've had the best success with Tombats. Every other transporter seems to get stuck too much, drops stuff everywhere or can only carry 1 thing at a time.

3. Even if you have a lot of ore, you need to set up multiple furnaces to make the ingots faster. Every single day the ore deposits will respawn, so you NEED to have the furnaces empty and ready to go to make more ingots.

I usually set up at least 3 to 4 furnaces and split all of my ingot making evenly between them so that I'm making 3-4 ingots at a time at the same rate that a furnace will make 1.

That way all the ingots are done before the next day and ready to be used.

Also, try to get to the point where you can use other spheres because some spheres are easier on your resources than others.

4. Try to out source some of the things that need ingots to other sources. For example your ammunition. Advanced ammunition like rifle rounds take ingots. And you need a lot of bullets. But there are vendors you can buy bullets from rather than spending ingots on them, so that means more ingots you can use for spheres rather than ammo.

You can make plenty of gold catching and selling pals or catching bandits and selling them to black marketeers.

5. Try to make sure your mining base has sufficient number of ore deposits within your base boundaries.

I found one area pretty close to the beginning boss tower that has like 10 ore deposits that can all be fit within 1 base boundary.

I set up a VERY basic mining base there with just some beds, feed box, a berry plantation, cook station, a few furnaces, a couple of saunas, one of those little fire accessory things that improves kindling and the mining cart that improves mining.

I also surrounded the base in stone defensive walls to prevent random pals from wandering in and attacking an interrupting work.

Every in game day that I go back to the base all the reptyro have almost completely mined out all the natural ore nodes and I just need to run around and pick them up, throw them into a box and then start up the furnaces, then leave and go do whatever else is on my list.

I've actually had more issues with coal and sulfer than ore until I started buying my ammo rather than making it.

I only use one forhe since I have a Jormuntide Ignis ( T4 flames ) that can smelt 3-4 ingots per second

Right now I tried the turtles and they are insane indeed, but here's a thing I wonder :

CollectionObjectHpRate=2.000000 This is my server setting, is it better to leave it to 1, or under 1 ?

Does MINE FOREMAN applies to the turtles aswell, granting them +25%,50%.. ?
