Difference between regular Pal and Alpha/Boss Pal?

Is there any difference between them besides the red icon? I have a Boss Quivern and just recently caught one with better passives but it's a non-boss/alpha variant

I have had 2 version of the same pal one Alpha one normal, Alpha didn't even have more HP despite being larger.

They're supposed to have higher stats, but it seems to be a small amount.

Alpha Pals have
Higher stats
and special trait

So, I have a Mammorest level 38 normal Pal and a level 39 Alpha one.
The normal one has higher stats. Neither one has any special trait.
So it does not seem to make a big difference beside how big they are.

haven't been able to confirm it myself, but I think I saw something suggesting that alphas sell for more to pal traders.I could very well be mistaken
