Now you think that you want to level up each of 20+ pals (5 active + 15 base not counting guaranteed swaps through the game), but I can assure you that you would quickly change your mind.
I've already explained why I want it and why it's fun 5 times so I'm going to try a different approach:
It doesn't matter if YOU don't understand why someone ELSE wants it. YOUR idea of fun is not going to be the same as someone ELSE's idea of fun, and that's why we have OPTIONS and SLIDERS to make it more fun for more people than just YOU. The world does not revolve around you. The world does not think like you. The world does not have fun like you. YOUR opinion, on its own, doesn't matter. What matters is what OTHER people find fun, and if enough of these OTHER people find it fun the developer can add options to make the game more fun for those OTHER people.
I had fun training my individual pokemon back in gens 1-4, I would get many of them up to level 100 so I could create different teams to fight in PVP. That was fun to me, and if you think leveling up pals is a grind, you don't know what a grind is.
