You can fit everything in one flat open base if you just optimize, never mind 3, not to mention you can build up if needs be and have multiple floors for alot of your items. Cmon. If you're running out of room you must be being inefficient or picking lousy areas
They're a ballache at first but once you figure it out, stairs become super easy to do just using walls to anchor them and the the triangular supports, remove the walls after (if you want to). Few tutorials on YouTube now showing super easy techniques. I built a 3 floor last night in prob less than an hour. Easy when you know how to get round the clumsy bits.
Foundation, add a wall and go up a few levels, anchor some "roof" tiles which are just foundations but called roofs, build the stairs down from them, slap a half triangle wall if you want to delete original wall and job done. super easy
I recomend you do this:
1 mining base -- if possible with coal near it. There are 2 spots in game with it that i found so far.
1 breeding/food base -- you gona need a lot of milk, eggs, wheat, salad and other things
1 crafting base -- where you do mostly high tech production (you will still need 1 farm near so they have something to eat)
Your crafting base will need unlimited wood and stone nodes (do not place mining nodes into mining base as mobs will ignore ores)
Oh also... wood walls are buggy right now and they wont de-spawn, so you can put them outside the base circle as wall araund the base (and it helps with mobs not getting stuck)
