Mid-Late 30s progression grinds to a halt. Any tips?
Im currently level 37, I think I have that pal capture chance upgraded through level 4 (the green energy you collect...the next rank is requiring 19)... Everything and its mother is costing ore/stone/paldium/refined ingots.

Easy enough to find but the sheer amount required to be on par with the current spot in the game is almost impossible.

I have a main base that seems to be working very efficiently. Nice pathing for all pals, they are always happy and a few "hard workers". I also have an ore-only base with 5 or 6 pals just mining ore non stop.

I find that my content loop for the last two or so "real time" days has been: collect ore from the ore base, refine. While thats happening create work queues for hydrospheres (red?) handgun ammo/rifle ammo/cement. And any other odds and ends. All that is about 10-15 minutes. I then head on out to the world, my focus is to level myself up so catching pals is #1 priority. I find a pal, doesnt matter the level (could be 20-25-30+) I get it down to 10-25% and each time I try to catch it has a 10-20% chance and fails. Im burning through spheres left and right. It takes 5-10+ to catch a single pal. And if that pal has friends with him, Im getting destroyed. I could take a pal out myself, but hes going to two-tap everything in sight.

On level 10-15 pals Im still trying to use blue/green spheres. 15-25 yellow spheres. Around 25-35+ red spheres. A level 30 pal is taking me almost 10 spheres or more sometimes. I could try the ultra sphere (purple) but that requires even more ore, paldium, resources...plus carbon fiber I think? How the heck am I supposed to keep up with this demand?

This goes on for about 30 minutes until Im almost empty on spheres and have to start this content loop over again. I go two inches and pause to restart the loop.

I know, collect 10x of each pal for bonus. I did that through 20s and early 30s. Kind of trying to work on pals that are 15+.

Any tips on resource generation at this level in the game, or leveling in general? How should I alter my playstyle? Where and what should I be doing? I'd love to venture into the hot/cold zones but even with the appropriate armor, mobs are wrecking and pals are taking too many spheres to catch. Any help would be appreciated. Just trying to level up again.

Sorry to break it to you my guy but when you are trying to catch pals that are over lvl 30, you need either the red or purple spheres. The yellows will only be like 10% chance or sometimes lower as you get closer to 40

I am using red on level 30+. Its still taking 10 spheres to catch usually.

Have you caught 10/10 on most of the pals that are lower level? you get full xp for catching no matter what level the pal is, if you catch a lvl 1 pal at lvl 35 you get same xp as if you catch a lvl 35 pal.

Also you can collect eggs and hatch, same xp as catching and if you fly around in the highest levels zones it might be decent xp.

Have you tried breeding better pals? The breeding system is a lot more like dragon quest than pokemon, so if you breed 2 pals of differing rarity you're probably going to get something in-between their rarity (there's a calculator somewhere)

It feels like around that level you start to hit the more early access part of the game, with lower textures on the more distant lands (sometimes) and unbalanced resources requirements, difficulty carrying the weight, and bugs with base pathfinding.

Overall I'd say it's a great state for a little over a week since release of the first early access version, but you do need to have a little patience for the later game's balance IMO. Luckily it's not crashing etc constantly.

Eggs can work.

Capturing very low-level Pals can become tricky at this point because it's easy to just obliterate them instead of wounding... but hey, you might have enormous numbers of the basic Pal spheres to waste. Stun baton also helps, although I don't know if the game tells you anywhere how much stunning actually matters with capture chance.

There's probably some expected amount of Lifmunk (sp?) upgrades for capture chance for a given level range, but I have no idea what you're "expected" to be at. At level 38, I think I've upgraded it five times, with the most recent upgrade costing 19 effigies; while I tend to prioritize reaching those I actually notice, I haven't been seeking them out specifically.

For ore farming, I find that it doesn't take too long to get 320 w/ a refined-metal pickaxe and a grappling hook, at the Desolate Church. A set of 50 coal consistenly spawns within easy reach of the Free Pal Alliance tower, so that'll work for refined ingots. Carbon fiber can be tediously made from wood, so don't waste coal for it.

Bone for cement can be bought at the Seaside Village on the south coast of the volcano island in the SW. Seaside also sells handgun and rifle ammunition, so if you've plenty of gold and not a large number of ingots/refined ingots, that's an option. From what I gather, there's a village ("Duneshelter") out in the NE desert where you can buy Pal fluid, too, for the other ingredient.

Yah, I guess I'll head back to low-level pal catching since those spheres cost much less. Ill check out that seaside village for handgun ammo. HAvent been there yet and that should relieve some.

Guess I keep just plugging away.

i have a private/coop server at highest xp rate and such (easy mode) and have only made it to level 35! i do think after 30 all levels are Hell Levels (like in the original EQ when smed put in hell levels due to lack of content).
