Put a cake in the special chest attached to the Breeding Farm.

You have to cook cake and put it in the attached crate to the right side of the farm gateway.

If you're like me you might have the crate buried in the floor.

An egg will spawn at the breeding pin after some time, they are waiting for you to pick it up before they make another

in my case i was able to put it there. Maybe its bugged for you, i dont know for sure.
