Can Shiny/Alpha Pals pass on their increased size via breeding?
Playing with a friend on his save, and we're nearing the point where we can unlock breeding. At this point we have a good handful of Alpha Pals, and even a few "Shinies". I know that Shiny parents have a chance to pass on their unique Lucky trait to offspring. If an offspring gets it, are they also larger than normal like the parent? If not, is there any chance at all that the Shiny (or an Alpha) passes on their increased size?

I think the big guys are neat, so it'd be a bit of a shame to have them essentially become obsolete once optimized ubermench babies start hatching from the baby pits if they can't inherit the size boost too.

So a lucky can pass on it's trait but not the size unfortunately, alpha's also do not pass over traits and tbh as far as I can tell alpha's don't even have any inherit stat bonuses and the babies don't inherit that at all, mostly just a fancy icon beside your creature's name whereas lucky does boast a very good bonus

devs or mods should make this a thing

Well the thing is Alphas do have more hp than normal ones, especially Legendary alphas that almost triple their hp, babies don't inherit it so having a perfect Legendary breed is so much harder.

non legendary alphas do not have more hp than normal ones. i'm looking my at my lvl 12 mau alpha/boss at 1073hp and the non alpha at 1082hp.

i mean i wish it was true, in fact i wish alpha actually had more stats across the board.

It's like 10% hp boost for most cases and maybe mau don't have this bonus idk

What about luckies. I haven't noticed a huge stat difference, but my luckies always seem to have the best rolls among my pals of the same species at the same level. Is it just the case that the luckies have higher of that potential value between 1-100 that's hidden?

alphas are bigger a digtoise alpha can easily hit multiple ore rocks with its spinning move, size does matter.

That's pretty much the only example of larger sizes being objectively good for Pals. Other times bigger mounts can get stuck on the ceilings of caves/dungeons. It makes the Pal easier to hit in a fight. And it causes more pathfinding/getting stuck problems in the base.

It might be worth experimenting more with Alpha pals honestly. Hitboxes can get real wonky sometimes for certain pals. I noticed that Vanwyrm in particular is extremely hard to hit by a lot of moves due to what seems to be high elevation and its erratic movement.

I personally wish the size got bred to the children. I like the look of giant Pals walking around my base.

The one advantage to captured alpha/lucky pals that I'm aware of is that they drop ancient parts and precious junk items when you butcher them.

I can confirm that the Alpha pals can be inherited (or possible randomly acquired) through breeding - the egg that drops in the breeding station was a Huge egg instead of a normal sized one and the baby that hatched from it had the Alpha trait. So far of the 25 babies produced only 2 of them were Alpha.

That was a change made to the game at a later date. Alpha status was not inheritable around the launch of the game when this topic was created.

It's still not inherited really, every egg has a small chance to be an alpha I believe. I've gotten huge eggs where no alpha was involved in the breeding.
