All my boxes got messed up because of wood / stone / etc
Since you can craft without withdrawing items you don't have to look through your boxes unless you are trying to bring items from 1 base to another.
I have an Egg chest for Eggs that I find, I have a treasure chest for all the treasures I keep, I have a tool chest to keep items for my friends who may join my games, etc. I make these things and want them in a particular order, that's it. I don't care if I can build from anywhere in the base. I DO care when I am looking for stone and it's not where it should be when I build external defenses or I am moving things to a new base location.
This isn't even remotely connected to me wanting all my crafting supplies to be easier to find, it's entirely about it being the way I want things to be arranged without getting annoyed that my Pals apparently think rocks belong in a chest of eggs and NOT the box clearly right beside the rock mine.
What I find more bizarre is that they won't prioritize putting items that spoil in a fridge - if I ever accidentally leave a spot empty in any chest/feeding bowl, they will be stuffing eggs/milk/wheat into it asap.
That aside It just has to be done using the force storage method by putting all of one item in the box you want it in... after that not sure just have to make your personal room to sort storage
This is how I solved the issue.
1) Whatever food you DO want them to eat, split the stack so you put some in each slot. If it's full, the pals won't transport there. I have my food supply with one big stack of baked berries, and four stacks of a bunch of red berries each. I suggest putting your pal food box next to your berry farms.
2) put your cooler or other food storage right next to where your ranch where milk and honey is being generated. With the pal food box full, pals will take other food to the nearest storage container. Since you probably want it preserved, make sure a cooler is right nearby for them to throw it into. Put your wheat farm nearby as well so it will also go in the cooler. Then all your food is together, and a ice pal can keep it from expiring as quickly.
