In my ranch it says required farming

So is that a skill I need to procure and if so how? How can I get my chicken to lay eggs in the ranch?

its talking about the jobs a pal can have, look next to the required farming text for the symbol that corresponds to it and then look at the jobs you pal has when inspecting your pal details on the right side

also pals will just automatically go to available jobs
meaning that if you have chickens deployed at your base they'll automatically go lay eggs at the ranch

All you have to do is put your chickens, sheep, cows, etc into the Base terminal thing, and they'll naturally just start dropping eggs, wool or milk over time.
