All have beds, feed boxes and hot tuub
The majority of medicines all remove side effects of stress. That's not limited to high-grade. It's a huge part of why I think it's a useless mechanic.
Higher quality beds will also provide SAN. An open layout to your base on flat terrain will also help prevent them from getting stuck, which prevents them from eating and sleeping in a bed. I have one main building and the rest is open space with clear room for pathing. I also put a feeder next to each main work area, to minimize downtime traveling to eat. You can put a feeder INSIDE the breeding pen, for example, which means more eggs to hatch.
If you check on them now and then to make sure none are stuck someplace (easier to do with a more open concept base), give them cooked food, and a place to sleep, you will almost never need to use medicine.
They give 1 san which is enough. If a pal gets sad, they start eating alot, that will raise their sanity and stop them from worsening
Baked Berries are also fantastic ways to level up bred pals, put em in your team and then have one team member with level 3 kindling cook them. you'll get like 20 levels in a few minutes (on your pals)
