I have a base for ranch for gathering cake ingredients, my main base has a few kitchens with jormuntide ignis as cooks, I use this set up for when im gonna afk for few hours.
If i set up near the main base, like if i travel far enough, my pals will despawn and be put in limbo, next time i go near ,my pals will usually stop breeding.
Sorry i don't quite understand your ' (as opposed to being somewhere you AFK in without being able to do anything else, ', english is not my first language, i hope this answers your question.
Palworld does not have "chunk loading", which means when you move away from an area (like your base), it stops updating what your Pals are doing, including breeding (so they won't make Eggs if you're away).
If you place this set-up close to your main base (where you come home to craft and drop off materials), then it would be loaded in and you don't have to sit idle for hours.
