Breeding with lesser hassle.
I tried many different breeding pen layouts and this seems to give me the least hassle, although your pals might still spawn in the sky and drop down to their death or outside base, this happens the least to me.

First you must find a flat piece of land and set foundations on your entire base area, this prevents stones/woods/rocks from spawning, my base is at the beach, you can find other spots, but the entire area must be flat with no walls or cliffs or whatever spots higher than your base.

Each rooms are walled off, with large spacing to enable large pals to breed, with their own beds and feed boxes, and they are not far enough for the pals to despawn and put in limbo and spawn in other spots frequently as long as you don't go to the edge of the base.

The middle room is a small square so when you load pals from pal box, they cant run far, letting you catch and lift them easily to put them in the breeding pens.

You can even let the black marketeer sleep in the middle area so you can sell off pals you don't want.

You can ignore the corner empty room, i wanted to put black marketeer there but turns out it's bad spot.

Don't have any of your floors outside the blue circle though, monsters can spawn inside, making your pals attack them and then they will stop breeding.

You only have to get food from other base and put them in each feed boxes, but it's still a lot better than always putting your pals in breeding pens because they stop breeding every time.

You need to create walls on the outer room edge so other thugs or wild pals won't attack your pals too. Don't make 2-wall high walls like shown in the corner room too, your pals have higher chances to load on top of the wall and die.

Lastly you can just turn raid off, and afk in the middle of the room for afk egg farming.
The sloped walls are for you to run up the walls between rooms instead of having to climb.

This is a fantastic setup, though wouldn't it be better set up next to your main base (as opposed to being somewhere you AFK in without being able to do anything else, due to the lack of chunk-loading)?

I have a base for ranch for gathering cake ingredients, my main base has a few kitchens with jormuntide ignis as cooks, I use this set up for when im gonna afk for few hours.

If i set up near the main base, like if i travel far enough, my pals will despawn and be put in limbo, next time i go near ,my pals will usually stop breeding.

Sorry i don't quite understand your ' (as opposed to being somewhere you AFK in without being able to do anything else, ', english is not my first language, i hope this answers your question.

That's okay, it's a hard thing to translate.

Palworld does not have "chunk loading", which means when you move away from an area (like your base), it stops updating what your Pals are doing, including breeding (so they won't make Eggs if you're away).

If you place this set-up close to your main base (where you come home to craft and drop off materials), then it would be loaded in and you don't have to sit idle for hours.

I see, but the pals on the 2nd base furthest from your main base might not load and if you are breeding pals which moves around a lot like Jetragon you will pull your hair out from frustration. It might work, but need special layout, have to check how far is the limit before your pal stops loading.

It's a decent distance - if you put a second base close to the first (as in not up a mountain) the first will still make progress as usual. I've found you can put bases next to each other, but the edge of their circles have to be about the length of 2 foundations away to let you place.
