Tips for base spots
Loving the game so far I honestly haven't played a "creature collector" game since crystal and I love the survival/base building systems like ark. I'm having trouble deciding when to move my base though.

I put my first spot down right beside the fast travel statue by the plateau of beginnings right on the ruins spot, its done me good so far but I've realized I'm kinda wasting one of my bases putting it right beside a statue and my biggest annoyance so far has been getting ore.

I found two spots on my flyer/exploring which I know know are specifically mining sites, the first I looked at was the one near the fort ruins across the rope bridge, this one is way too small though and I have no doubts I'd get pals bugging out galore here.

The second is across the stone bridge near the small village on that southern area, there is a very nice flat plateau there with only two entrances right above the ore and I figured it would be perfect to have that plus stairs down to the ore problem is the stairs are a bit janky to use thats fine as I intend to be the only one using it but my pals are going ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the pathing once I start planting some defensive walls/gate down on the upper platform.

Tried finding some advice on this and all I really found was people saying pathing gets rough with the pals if the defenses aren't build close to the edge of the spear the palbox makes.

Any advice to help me with this? Should I abandon the ore plan and just find the widest flattest spot I can?

As little spoilers/no areas past the first island area that we start in(not past the red forest areas)

Yeah the one with a bunch of Ore nodes I said I checked that place out already and I did plop down a box just to extract a bunch of ore. I was raided and they were all stuck in the canyon here is the thing though I want to be raided I don't want to cheese them.

^ should be everything you need.
I have read that one and I thought the second part in the forest by the bridge was good but I think they moved the ore field that the article talks about I just can't find it where they say it is.

The best resource spot at the moment is 190, -40 where you have both Ore and Coal. it's on higher ground and basically nothing attacks you up there.

Once you have cold resistance, there is a good quartz spot at -200, 240 which is also on a higher ground with protection from enemies.

A decent starting location with ore that's close to starting zone would be -5, 530 and when you go over the ledge and closer to the water you will find a black market dealer at that location too.

Please don't tell me anything beyond where I am at right now I kinda wanna explore and find most things on my own.

Yeah -5, -530 is where I'm looking at for my base but I want to build the actual base area on the flat empty spot right above all the ore, issue is my pals keep running outside of the walls I build up there to grab wood and other various things and I want them to stay inside because they get stuck outside of there too.

i set up the chillet rope bridge place as my mining camp.
I built a pal box in the centre with a storage box next to it, I then put down 10 beds, a feed box, a berry crop and 2 hot tubs.
Then I set 8 Tombats, a Tanzee and a Fuack to the base.

The Tombats mine the ore and fill the storage box constantly, while Tanzee and Fuack keep them fed.
I fast travel over to the ore mine occasionally then I stand so I can access the storage box and the fast travel at the same time, I open the storage box, grab all the ore that the Tombats have mined for me, then fast travel back to my base, there is a box next to my bases palbox too so I can instantly unload it all.

Then I walk to the furnace and queue up 3 or 4 thousands ingots, which my FoxParks then begin cooking.

Work smarter. not harder :)

I know I just don't want to cheese the invasions I actually like how they work in palworld vs some other survival games I've tried.

Stone and wood are the easiest resources. Once you build those stone and wood gathering sites, they won't run outside the base and will usually just go there. After a while you'll have tons of stone and wood and can just stop gathering the resource altogether and focus on other things. I accidentally gathered over 9000 of both fairly quickly with those sites and stopped using it and never ran out of the stuff,

I spend/waste most of my time flying around the map and triyng to find pals , gathering resources is kind of the last thing on my mind most of the time. unless it's resources that need to be gathered by killing enemies.

OH right I forgot that they will automatically go to the gather spot instead, and my goal is the same mostly I just want to build my bases close to resources I need, which for now is just ore though I did just unlock guns (but don't tell me where to find sulfur and other stuff I'd like to figure that out for myself.

Unless you want major headaches with pathing/Pal's getting lost, build on a completely flat section of land. Even having trees can be a problem if you don't have Pals chopping them down as they'll occasionally get stuck on top of things (you've built even) and starve to death.

I built one base behind the church that i'll tear down at some point because they keep getting trapped down the cliff or stuck on the rocky outcrop. My base in the starter area, they kept getting trapped in the pond and starving, or clipped through the 90 degree angle where water meets land and got stuck under the base.
