Has anyone tried building a base in the air?

I'm trying to see if it's possible if it's air enouth I don't think the raids could get you. But it would be nice if i could build while riding a pal too.

You can build foundations fairly high up off the ground, the issue is that raiders can destroy them easier than normal since they have supports at the bottom.

how do you do that? i don't see such option when i build my foundations

just look upwards while placing it, the foundation will snap a certain distance in front of you and start moving up and down instead of forwards and backwards.

Start with the the base square foundation, build upwards from it and create a 6x6. Thread stairs through it.

The roofs are now floors.

Would be cool to build floating islands we have flying mounts so that is the next logical step.

The foundation have to connect to the ground, you can't have a floating base in this game, much to my displeasure. If you remove a structures connection to a foundation then it will break down and turn into it's building material.

Yeah I'd like to make something on the scale of Skyloft from Zelda or the sky islands from Totk.

The Palbox has a radius of about 15 tiles away, haven't checked under but considering it's 15 in every other direction then it's safe to assume it's the same.
