Swimming mounts
Anyone else finds them kind of... disregarded? Land mounts eventually deplete their stamina while in deep bodies of water. But flying mounts can hover over water no matter their stamina gauge. Which I find odd to say the least.

On a side note, Palworld lacks in swimming mount variety. On top of my head there's only Surfent, Azurobe and Jurmuntide in the EA.

Personally I don't see a point of water mounts when I can just sprint through the ocean on a land mount lol

I'm sure that's unintended but a viable choice when traversing.

TECHNICALLY- with enough stacked Speedboosts Swimming mounts are faster than flying mounts over ocean because they can constantly sprint... but that doesn't help given outside whenever they plan to open up the tree zone, there's little reason to use one over a flying pal- that'll get you over the ocean, up whatever mountain or cliff is on its edge, and past whatever high level enemies are trying to kill you while you rush around looking for a fast travel point.

I expect at some point in the future they'll start adding high level predatory flying pals over the ocean to incentivize using sea pals to cross it- but until then flying > Swimming.

Yeah, seen that glitch. The opposite for me was when Azurobe falls down to the lakebed or ocean floor when summoned while I swam in deep water. Just clips through the water surface. Had to swim back to the shore in order to ride that pal. *sigh*

I think they should add the ability to travel under the water with ocean mounts like that. Have some pals or other items that only spawn in deep water and boom, there you go.

Flying pals need a nerf, that's for sure. Flying high up and dropping to the ground without fall damage and the permanent hovering over water really needs to go.

That's a great idea actually. I could also see crafting scuba wetsuits and exploring underwater dungeons be something many players would enjoy in Palworld. That, and catching unique pals only found while underwater.

Then we just need some underwater bases a la Subnautica. Oh, and people will totally try to catch Ghost Leviathans ^.^

I'd play that. :P

oh, that one's not exclusive to flying pals- so long as you're mounted neither you nor your pal take fall damage.

Idk about the fall damage. It still has wings so its basically a glider at that point but the unlimited hovering above water needs to go for sure I think.

Should just fall into the water and start taking drowning damage. Hovering above land I can understand and get behind.
Even if you did take fall damage, you can just hop off and then glider to the ground. Flying definitely does render virtually everything else obsolete but it's pretty hard to nerf that. Being airborne is just an amazing advantage even in real life. You'd have to make it miserable to use a flying mount. The better way to nerf it probably would just be to put their saddles at higher levels so you at least have to use ground and water for a while.

Gliders are limited in both speed and stamina depletion though. Plenty of ways to die when no structure is around to latch on. Gliding pals are much the same.

I believe a combination of adding more high level aerial apex predators and maybe strong wind currents at a certain air height could both nerf flyers and make riding them more interesting at the same time.

Even WITH high level apex predators or air currents, you can still just fly along the ground level. You have to stop down there for stamina every two seconds anyway. I've never seen a game where flying is an option and it's clearly far and away the best option for traversal. Probably because it's the best in real life as well.

As for gliders and stam, just don't deploy till you are about to hit the ground. Even if you fall in the ocean, just idle until your flier is back nearby, jump, then rid it again.

Now, they could make later water mounts way fast in water. Like 5-10x their current speed. That'd give them a slight niche.

I find that riding water pals to be buggy. They make my character stuck to the ground if you summon them in the water. Not worth it at all

I saw the massive tree on the horizon but it seemed too good to be true. My Nitewing had gotten knocked out by that point and I didn't want to risk trying to swim toward it yet. Does it not let you get there?
