I use the blue hedhog, can't remember the name right now. he has only cooling 1 and nothing else so he can only use the fridge.
edit: Paldeck 13 Jolthog blue version
For me, this happens when fairly often when I fast travel back to the base or when I first load into the game and 18 Pal's all drop at once.
I've made it a point that whenever I return to the base, I take 2-3mins and just cycle my Pals through the box. This is also helpful because sometimes a Pal will get stuck on top of the logging building and pass out from lack of food before I notice.
Anyway, give that a shot.
just know that sure feeding your pals cheap baked berries work fine, but because they only eat 1 item when hunger drops to 50% they'll end up spending more time going back and forth between the feeding station and their workstation than actually working because baked berries barely fill them over 50%. the same can be said for sanity. theyll get tired of their work quicker
Another thing like other people said, you need a Pal that does Ice-only. The way that work is prioritized with Pals are so darn weird so a multi-task Pal wouldn't always work on the cooler.
Even then, it's not like you don't get better farms past the berry and wheat ones. It seems like eventually you unlock tomato and lettuce farms as well, and it also seems like they restore more nutrition than berries or wheat. Can also just put a bunch of chikipi in a ranch and wind up with lots of eggs.
