Buy or not
First of all: it's not a troll post but a legitimate and serious question :D So please don't hate it or anything like that

I would like to buy Palworld, but am undecided due to the impending likely lawsuit from the Pokemon Company (Nintendo). I'm just afraid that the money will be gone if the game is subsequently taken off the market due to a ruling.

I know the question is actually one that I should answer myself, but I can't really bring myself to a decision, hence the question.

Your opinion?

Nintendo has known about this game since 2020 (i think, whenever the first trailer dropped) and now its been out for what, a week and a half without anything coming from them other than a reassurance to their fans that 'they are watching for any infringement of their copyrights'
I don't think we need to worry while Palworld is getting bugfixes. Now, if they added more pals and don't do due diligence then that'l be to worry. Pocketpair intends to add a lot more pals as well, so in the end, its a risk. As of right now though? the game isn't gonna get snapped from the market while they're still focusing on making the game steady and good in its current state.

the announcement by nintendo was basically nothing more than "yes we know, now shut up"

now for the meat:
do you like survivorcrafting games?
do you like collecting creatures?
do you like committing mass genocide for the sake of crafting materials?
if yes to any, then you will most likely like palworld

as for me, 100+ hours in, still having fun

everybody that thinks nintendo would not have killed this game in development if they had a case is a idiot (sry to say but it`s the truth) we will most see nintendo taking what they see and morphing it for pokemon and hopefully they make a better produce now that they have a very big (Small) Rival remember this is still an indy game and it just blew pokemon out of the water!

Given for Nintendo, Palworld is not worth more then a nod and a smile, yes buy it, it is fun.
Albeit due to the latest patch alot of people, me uincluded, reported fps drops after some playtime, which needs a restart every so often.

if the game gets taken off the market ,it is still your property. Dark and darker was taken off steam because of lawsuit, but all the people who bought it on steam can still redownload and play it because they own the title. Even if Nintendo did somehow get it taken off ud still be able to play it

That's the problem with Steam, you only buy the right to possession and use the title, Steam remains the owner, as it says in the terms and conditions. The example with Dark and Darker was a goodwill decision from Steam, which is what they currently do with other titles, except The Day Before :D

So yes, of course, normally it is correct. However, if Nintendo took the legal step, they could legally have it removed completely. That's the problem I'm struggling with :D

But what can I say - you convinced me ^^ Palworld, I'm coming :D

Thank you all for your opinion ^^

the reason they didn`t do that with the day before was because it was a big and glourious scam. And why do you even think nintendo has a case because of cute animals or catch balls?

Well, there are several things that point to that. And these are not my words, but what you can glean from public and independent sources.

For example, independent employees of other developers compared the 3D models of the Pals with 3D models of actual Pokemon and they fit together surprisingly well. This suggests that some Pals have a Pkm 3D model as a basic framework. Therefore, the fact that MAYBE explicitly used 3D models from Pokemon could be reason enough for Nintendo to take legal action.

As I said, not my words or assumptions, but what you hear from independent and public sources.

they are still original models as long as they are not 1:1 like with the Pokemon Mod that nintendo struck down instantly then they cant do ♥♥♥♥

I heard about the mods and I'm really not happy that some people are going overboard with it. This is like adding fuel to the fire and it absolutely sucks.

that original allegation was debunked when the person in question admitted to editing the model to better fit the palworld model lmao

looking at actual topography, the model has no real similarities apart from being a wolf shape

here's actual unedited topo
