Pal mining ore?

My first run through and I'm moving my base for the first time (apparently I didn't need to and could have just built a second one, but didn't know). I am moving it to an ore rich area because I'm reading that on the research tiers. I set up a basic base and my pals are gathering and collecting, but they won't interact with the ore, just trees and materials that are on the ground. How do I get them to interact with the ore nodes?

i think pals need level 2 mining to be able to mine ore

You need a Pal with Ore Mining lvl 2 or better. First one you'll probably find is the Tombat, I'm using those now until I find better ones.

Also, pick up your Pal and throw them at the ore nodes to assign them to only mine.

Level 2 Mining is needed. for them to mine the ore.
plenty of guides out there showing good set up
but "tombats" are soild miner "early on"

I keep seeing this, but I have a cattiva on my ore farm and he doesn't have any trouble. I think it might just be an issue with the AI getting janky. Also helps if you don't have anything else at the farm the pals can work on other than a berry/wheat farm.

Tombats come from dark eggs. Also Drumun (I think it's called) from rocky eggs. Some sort of killer whale thing that doesn't swim. The whale critters are even better than the tombat, imo. Both are kind of cute (I hate cute but they are...) when they take time off int he hot springs. haha

Okay. I think I'm level 12 and I haven't gotten anything to incubate eggs yet, but I have dark eggs and rocky eggs.
