I personally found the normal exp rate fine. What I did do was increase the resources yield and increased the capture rate a bit to make spheres feel like less of a massive resource sink. Capturing is the main way to level up so if you spend your time capturing as many pals as you can you'll level up pretty quickly.
Catch every pal you encounter until you have 10/10. Basically when running around if you are next to a pal and you haven't caught 10 of it, attack it and catch it. If you fight something catch it instead of killing it.
You level super fast, way faster than your pals and so fast that you get way ahead of your tech, leveling is extremely fast in this game.
Each one you catch increase the amount of exp you get for the next one by a few % of the last one you caught, so at the start you get <100 xp per catch and at the end you get ~30k for a catch but only ~10k for a boss kill I think.
You don't have to 10/10 everything to reach max level, it is ok to not go out of your way to grind a certain pal to 10.
Because of how the xp work it makes it slow to level for people that just catch the pals they want and only 1 of each.
